At a recent meeting, the DUP paid tribute to county employees who helped put a ceiling in the basement, said Ike Lunt, county commissioner. Thprfuldings and grounds crew 'supplied the labor for the ceiling and painting which was done. Funding for the ceilings and painting project, he said, came from Special Services District 1. Funds for the carpeting came from the DUP. The basement rooms of the DUP museum at Nephi have been thoroughly renovated, said Bessie Jones, representing the DUP. Beautiful new carpet has been placed in all the rooms which was funded by the DUP of many years back. Money for the project, said Jones, came from a corporate fund which had been set aside, by those who had the foresight to save the money, for the purpose of purchasing the carpet. The carpet is industrial quality and blends with the carpet already laid in approaching hallways, said Jones. I can remember when that building didnt look so good, said Joseph Bernini, commissioner. When we met in the front part of the old county courthouse, in the commission chambers, the building was not in very good condition. The building, which once served as the county courthouse, was remodeled several years ago to serve as a cultural center and 3. , Legal Notice PUBLIC HEARING The Mona Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at 8:00 p.m- - at the Mona Town Office Building located at 50 West Center, Mona, Utah, to hear public input and possible fiscal adoption regarding the 1998-199- 9 year budget. " Revelation 5:814 Live By Pastor Keith E. South , First Baptist Church Not long after Peter proclaimed Jesus to be the ' Christ, the Son ofthe Living God he tried to in Matthew 16:13-23- , from Jesus going to prevent Jerusalem. Peter still had some wrong ideas about the Messiah. He expected a' king as did the majority of the Jews, not a suffering servant who would die on a cross. It is quite dear that the Hiariplo. were not insulated from the popular notions concerning the Messiahs miaainn Despite the Lords teaching to the con- trary, they expected a political leader to usher in a temporal kingdom for Israel and relieve the oppressive burden of Roman rule. The only problem was that they did not know their Jesus was not offering a temporal kingdom but an eternal one. He was going to have to suffer and die on the cross to accomplish it. Isaiah 53 makes it very plain. The prophet reveals in v. 5, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. She said broken glass has been replaced in the showcases and windows and blinds throughout the building have been cleaned. Many, many hands helped with this huge project, said Jones. We owe thanks to so many helpers and are delighted with the finished and glowing results. Wm. Boyd Howarth, commissioner, said he and the other commissioners had visited the new- ,ly renovated basement. The e provements made a big differ-ence, he said. It is a place we an all be proud of. DUP museum. A special service district was established to provide funds for the building. Originally, as the building was remodeled for use as a museum and municipal building, the ceilings in the basement were left in rough condition, said Jones. Many people do not realize what a gem we have in our community, said Jones. She said the DUP, when they provide tours for tourists, often receive compliments on the quality of the dis plays and the attractiveness of museum. God did not make it compli- cated, man has. Ephesians is very plain in vv. , For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not nf works, lest any man should boast. The mystery of the work of the Messiah is that through this suffering, He would be exalted. Rev. 8:13 says, And every creature which is in heav- en, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. The glory of the Messiah rose from the ashes of suffering and death. The Jewish people expected the Lion of Judah. They did not realize that the lion would be a Lamb. In our text today, Johns vision of the elders proclaimed that only the Lion of Judah was worthy to break the scroll. When John looked toward the throne, the eyes that gazed back at him were not those of a lion, but of a slaughtered lamb. Adams race needed more than a king, it needed a mediator, a crucified Lamb, to bring them into the heavenly king- dom. Jesus came to overcome the enmity of our hearts toward God. As a Lamb, He would die on the cross and then rise again in glory! Worthy Is The Lamb!! 2:8-9- e. 1 Saturday, June 6th At The Nephi City Park!
