Randy McKnight, city administrator, reported on plans the streets department had for completing the projects. There may be some minimal confusion as the work on streets gets underway, but it will be nothing like Interstate 15 construction near Salt Lake City, he said. McKnight said the work near the middle school and high school will be staged so it will not result in a complete block- ing of exits at the middle school.' There will be some detouring, for example the traffic from Nebo Heights will have to detour around the construction, said McKnight. The drainage systems will be improved on 600 South and 200 East, at 1250 North and 400 East, at 700 North and 400 East and at 300 North and 100 West. In addition the subdivision waterway at 800 North and 400 East will be improved. Many of the waterways lead to one cdngESted areiruf drainage, said McKnight, and the design needed to be changed so that there were more drainage systems open. The water on 700 North will cross 400 East, he said. The 500 West road construction leading to Sunset Rail will be completed this fall, said McKnight. He said the design was done for the roadway. One half that roadway is in the city limits and half is in the county. The new traffic light placement will also involve city crews. There will be new poles installed for the light and some adjustments will need to be made where the poles are placed, he aid. In addition, turn lanes will need to be brought up to standard so they meet state specifications for such lanes when they are coupled with a traffic light. Parking will be restricted in front of city hall with parking spots having to be located within the proper number of feet from the light at the corner said McKnight We will have to wait and see how much tearing up of the concrete occurs when they place the new polls in position, he said. Doug Anderson, Nephi, a Utah Highway Patrol Officer will also serve Nephi City. City Council members agreed on Tuesday to approve Anderson as a Nephi City Reserve Officer. Anderson will still do his job as a UHP TVooper but will help with other policing responsibilities when reserves are needed by the dty police work done, said Robert Steele, mayor. Each fall, he said, the cleanup took a few weeks to complete by the time crews picked up the debris left out by townspeople. This year our employees just don't have the time to do a cleanup and complete the work around town which needs to be done. Steele said the city electric and gas departments were being kept busy putting new utility lines into homes which were being constructed. We just talked about all the other work which our city crews are doing before winter. It is a great advantage to keeping the city looking nice to have a cleanup once year said Steele. "Many of the community eyesores have been eliminated and now we will just be doing the spring cleanup." The LDS Church will complete the curb, gutter and sidewalk in front of the stake center being constructed. Negotiations with the Canyon Hills rest home are underway. Curb, gutter and sidewalk needs to be placed in front of the facility, said McKnight. The Mickelson Subdivision will have, as part of the subdivision ordinance, curb, gutter and sidewalk. There will be trench-relate- d overlays and design coordination on the project, said McKnight. New homes in the area will have curb gutter and sidewalk and both the Winn Subdivision and the Westside subdivision will also have the same improvements. Some design coordination between subdivision engineering and the city needs to be worked out, said McKnight, so that the crown ofthe road is right so the new asphalt sections which will be placed by subdivision builders will - match the old road. . lots identified we where have the jVe to road work this the plan complete year and have made a best judgment call and have run the ewer and water lines under the roadway, said McKnight. With improvements under the road the road will not have to be dug or disturbed for the new construction lots where building has yet to take place. We have also targeted utility lines to the school campus and the ballpark site next to the new high school. cFnaalb Hngjlh He said a transition into and out of curb and gutter at the irrigation-styl- e the LDS Seminary at the comer of the high school campus had also been planned so they would not need to be rebuilt. It was a challenge to matchup without changing the old style irrigation ditch out, he said. The school district has also been working on the new school entrance, curb, gutter, sidewall, drainage, street construction and asphalt. The Lynn Subdivision improvements will mean there will be sidewalk and asphalt to the freeway in that area of the community. New residences have complicated the situation, said McKnight. Some residents have been waiting since last year to get improvements and to have the road improvements completed. A manufactured home owner can get a building permit and in two weeks have the home in place on the site, he said. It is not fair for others on the street and times have to be coordinated. We are hoping to have everything done by fall and the road improvements in, he said. Petrol cz-j- j reed tzlzzzz dr Czzt Stg.
