In many ways, the Central District presents a fairly homogeneous economic climate. Unemployment varies little. Job growth does show some disparity, but the variability results mostly from the small sine of some counties. And, while some counties are more economically diverse than others, no one county dominates the economic indicators of the whole. Counties include: Juab, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier and Wayne. unemployment the lowest in the 90s During the fourth quarter of 1996, the Central Districts jobless rate dropped to 5.0 of a percentpercent, below the figure for age point fourth quarter 1995 (5.4 percent). Construction (up 180 jobs), manufacturing (up 150 jobs), retail trade (up 100 jobs), services (up 300 jobs), and government (up 220 join) made the largest contributions to growth. Both construction and durable goods manufacturing produced growth rates in the range. Named by Mona Ibwn Mayor Kevin Young, the two will fill the positions vacated by Curtis Squire, who moved to Nephi, and by John Sutherland, who moved to a new home located on Ostrich Lane in Juab County near Mona. The two new council members are Allen, Ricks and Rick Schnurr. Ricks will replace Sutherland, who would have had to face a re election bid in November 1997 if he had wanted to retain his seat. Therefore, Ricks will need to run for election to the appointed seat in November and, if elected, will serve for four years. Ricks is retired and lives in the Nightingale Subdivision in Mona. Schnurr, who is the Daily Herald area distributor, lives in Mona and will replace Squire on the council. According to our ordinance, no fence shall be constructed, erected, or installed without first obtaining a fence permit from Nephi City, said Randy McKnight, city administrator. McKnight has been discussing items of education with the city council as time permits.
