The majority of those arrests have come from information people in the community have supplied, said Chad Bowles, Nephi City Police Chief. He said he had had a lot of calls from residents about reporting drug activity. They want to know if we will really protect their confidentiality and they want to know what we consider important information, said Bowles. Marilyn Stephensen said there was a serious pedestrian traffic problem existing at the location at present. "That needs to be fixed before any more development is allowed," she said. Following the public hearing, the city council adopted the proposed zone change. Only five people attended the public hearing to give comment concerning the proposal. At the hearing, Mike Jones, the owner of the abutting property, said the strip of land in the block across the street east of the WalkeiWendy complex, was not needed for his project. The existing property already zoned HC-- 2 will allow the commercial development I want, said Jones. However, he said, the additional property would allow for more parking for his planned development. no-ma- ns off-ram- posted speeds. Wes Lynn said he owns property both to the north and east of the proposed e property. I support Mr. Jones request. We have commercial property all around that area, he said. Mike Brown said he thought the additional property should be added to the existing commercial zone as the city council proposed. When the wind blows, I know because I live by Wendys, that debris ends up in the neighbors yards. When you clean up your area, go the extra mile, go to your neighbors and clean there. Developers of the Old Orchard Condominiums venture in south Nephi are still interested in the project. Brent Thompson, one of the developers, said the group is still interested in the development. The drainage plan and sewer plan still need to be approved by the city staff, he said.
