USDAs Agricultural Marketing Service will conduct the referendum in cooperation with the Extension Service and the Farm Service Agency. Registration and voting will be held at Extension Service county offices. Absentee ballots will be available from January 16 through January 26, 1996. A request for an absentee ballot must be made in writing from the County Extension office serving the county in which the voting entity is located. FSA will determine eligibility of challenged voters, count ballots and report referendum results. All producers, feeders and importers who certify that they were engaged in sheep production, sheep feeding or importation of sheep or sheep products between January 1, 1994 and December 31, 1994 will be eligible to vote in the referendum. The order may be approved by either a simple majority of those voting or by voters who account for of the number of sheep represented by those voting. The initial domestic assessment rate would be 1 on live sheep sold and 2 on greasy wool sold. The assessment vote on imported sheep or sheep equivalents would be 1 assesswith a 2 ment on degreased wool or wool products except that imported raw wool is exempt from assessment. The program will be adminisNation-- ! tered by the al Sheep Promotion, Research For the second consecutive year, Utah lawmakers are opening their chamber doors (broadcast live from the Utah House of Representatives) and inviting all Utah residents to join them in a two-patown meeting. The two meetings both question and answer sessions with the legislators will be broadcast via satellite January 30th from p.m. and February 20th from 5:30-- 7 p.m. Participants can view the programs at any of the 29 county offices of Utah State University Extension. The average seedling price is 50 cents and a minimum of 100 seedlings must be ordered. The seedlings are conservation grade and not acceptable for landscape plantings, said Glenn Beagle, conservation center coordinator. Many of the seedling varieties are grown from local seed sources as a product of Utah. Theyll be available in the spring and can be picked up at the nursery or delivered free to county drop off points. Orders are accepted by mail, or through any of the six area offices of the Division of Sovereign Lands and Forestry. Utah trappers donated money to DWR Ken Madsen, President of the Utah Trappers Association presented the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources with a check for $1000.
