I voiced a concern the night of the public hearing on the planned unit development, said Park. He said the city had eliminated part of the problem when a pumping station had been installed. However, he said, the problem was not cured. Sewer waste has come up in my washer in the last six months, said Park. Park said he thought the city Kathy Gibson, David Thacker will marry on Saturday, December 31st ! : should consider lowering the line. It runs pretty flat, he said. He suggested the city go down 700 South and lower the line. Mr. and Mrs. Vance P. I would do it if it were my home. It makes a lot of sense, said Steele, to lower the line. He said the line by the south freeway interchange and by the railroad tracks was almost level. There is not enough water in the line to keep it clean. More flow will also fill a basement up faster, said Park. He said he was flooded two times before he moved in. Steele said there was one fact which might help Park and other home owners if the planned unit development was built in south Nephi. The additional water flow which comes from others using the system does help keep it cleaned out, said Steele. We need to discuss the best way to handle the problem, said Steele. Park said the main sewer line hooks on at 5th South and might be a good place to bring the system into west Nephi. Afew ideas were also considered by council members. Park said he and many of his neighbors had suffered damage from the sewer system malfunctions. It put two feet of sewage into my neighbors basement, he said. Sewer backup is an awful thing to have happen. We dont want to flood peoples homes, said Steele. Council members agreed to take the advice of Park under advisement and to consider his concerns in future meetings. ' City Council Notes (jjf v d gathered which can help council members make better decisions as they ponder the way to guide the future of the city. At the session, Greenhalgh, as planning and zoning chair, discussed potential growth area amendments yfiich may need to be adopted for the zoning ordinance.
