And thereby hangs a tale. Ruth was told at that time that a hookup could not be made until the frost was out of the ground so a cable connection could be made. So she waited until May of 1993, I figured that the frost was out of the ground by then," said Ruth. She called four times in May and finally was told that the company would have to get the equipment to do the work into the Mona area. Thinking she might get some the same reaction. During her one call in October she was told they had to work on getting someone in Utah to do the job. She called the first of April 1994 and was told that Bob Westrope quit and she would have to wait until someone new was available to answer her. Well, Ruths joy was shore lived. The next word she got was that the utility poles near heil home were not tall enough. Theji? had to be 20' high and they werent, so no deal. So, you guessed it, Ruth finally went out and bought herself a satellite dish. Along the way Ruth got on a assistance, Ruth attended the May 1993 session of the Mona Town Council. One of the things she learned was that TV cable lines in Mona are not in the ground, lines use the utility poles that are already in place. Because her home is within the city limits, the Council felt she should receive service. On May 13, 1993, Mona sent a letter to Soda Springs, Idaho, the home office, stating the problem and asking that Ruth get a cable connection as soon as possible. On May 24, 1993, a follow-u- p call was made by Mona clerk Nila Keyte, she was told the problem was because the company was doing some major construction in Idaho at that time and couldnt focus on Mona. A call on Ruths behalf on June 2, 1993, got a message that calls should be made to a Bob Westrope in Cedar City, Utah. On June 5, Westrope was reached. He said they were in the process of taking bids from contractors to service the Mona area.
