But, your child follows you and says, I dont want you to love me. I want you to play with me! Apparently, your expression of love was not what your child had in mind. According to Thomas R. Lee, Ph.D., USU Extension Family Human Development Specialist, children spell love There has been a lot of attention given to the idea of quality time. Quality time is important, but it doesnt always happen on schedule. There has to be enough quantity time before any quality things over it. It provides a time to talk and to be in touch with each other. Limit TV watching. TV watching is the most common activity that, parents do with their children according to time-us- e surveys from the University of Michigan. Consider limiting yourself (not just the kids) to one or two hours a night. Volunteer to coach your childs team or lead your childs club. That kind of commitment will ensure that you spend time together. Choose exercise routines or other activities that include your child. Make time together a priority. Write it in your When someone else wants your day-plann- time, say I already have a commitment there. Dont leave your children to fit in when everyone else is done with you. Spend some individual time with each child if you have more thani one child. Ask them to list some things they would like to do with you, how much the activities would cost, and how long they would take. Rank them based on affordability, or inter-- , est, or feasibility, but choose something and schedule it and do it. Theres a saying that The best thing you can spend on children is your time. What are the happiest memories you have about your childhood? Can you remember the things you got for Christmas, or do these happy memories involve time with your family? Give your child the gift of time. May 15th has been set as the International Day of the Family. A great way to celebrate it with the family.
