Mangelson is a daughter of Paul and Sandra Mangelson of Levan. She is a senior at Juab High School, where she is an assistant drill mistress for the drill team. She is a student of the Attitude Ballet Company and is an assistant at lisas Dance Shoppe. At the worshop, Mangelson and 40 other dancers received instruction in modern dance from the companys principal dancers.
