Show average. Utahs gasoline tax is somewhat higher than the Mountain States Utah's tax burden is a little "FromWhere in neighboring. states than " higher I Sit By Allan R. Gibson The support group for the guard unit is planning a shindig for June 22nd at the Nephi City Park to honor those who served during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Be sure and mark your calendar and SUPPORT THE TROOPS. ; Stopped in at Nephi Farm Supply Monday afternoon and Blaine Malmquist was telling the story of the Mystery Rabbit. If I remember it right, it goes like this. Seems like Blaine had a male and a female bunny. They were doing what all good bunnies do, they were busy making more bunnies. At this point in Blaines story, the exact details got a little vague but the gist was that the male was no more, but the female had a lot of little bunnies as a result of what she and the male had been doing before he left. After a time the small ones were removed from the cage and the female is alone. No male in sight. Not a chance of more little bunnies, right! But low and behold one fine morning Blaine is treated to another litter of small bunnies. Time goes on and poor Blaine is scratching his head. He decides to breed her and borrows a male from a neighbor. After a few days, the male is removed from the cage and returned to the neighbor having done his duty. Blaine did not say whether he had a smile on his face, but for this story we can assume he had. Three days later, Blaine checks the cage and low and behold there is another batch of bunnies. (For those not acquainted with bunnies, Blaines daughter, having done a paper on rabbits for school, informs me that the gestation period is one month). Back to the story. Blaine assured all that listened to this mystery that the cage is and was secure, no bunny got in or got out, but he is at a loss to explain the two unplanned litters. Anyone got a clue how Blaines bunny did it? If you have, please call Blaine, hes still scratching his head over this one. All I can say, is that this is what cults and lots of money are made off. I can see it now. At the exits of the Freeway we can put up big signs. Blaines Bunny Lives Here! See the mystery bunny! Blaine will make a pile of money from it all and Nephi will become famous. We can sell good luck rabbits foots with the words Made in China stamped on the bottom. Vards can have Bunny Burgers and all the cars in town can have little statues of Blaines Bunny on the dash with a head that bounces as you drive. The female rabbits name you ask? Fluffy is the answer I got Ah, the mystery of it all. Not being a religious person, I wonder about what drives a erson to walk from Kanab to the Idaho state line carrying a very rrge, very heavy wooden cross. So when I got a call telling me about wo men, one with a beard, headed north along the Mona road hesday morning doing just that, I had to ask why. Box 561124 Salt Lake City, Utah 84151 Utahs state and local tax burden is slightly above the national and regional averages when measured by personal income, says the Utah Foundation. According to the organization, Utahs total state and local tax burden was equal to $119 per $1,000 of personal income. That compares with a Mountain States average of $118 per $1,000 of personal income, and a U.S. average of $115 per $1,000 of personal income. Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, and Montana reported a higher tax burden than Utah, while Idaho, Colorado, and Nevada had a lower tax burden. This letter was typed! At the ball park To the Editor: , As the second half of baseball season has started, I feel I must take pen in hand and write to the players, coaches, and fans, As a past coach of many years, I find it very rewarding as Im at the ball park to have some of my old players come and ask me if Ill ever give up the habit of going to the ball park. The association we make with new players, fans, and friends, is a very important part of the game. The time spent by the coaches will come- - back as a reward as it has done for me with these kids turning into grown men and bringing their boys to see you and saying, "This is my old coach. First, the name of the place we 'stayed was Grafenwohr, Germany, rather than Grafenwoken as was printed in the article. Second, we are TRAINED for combat, we DID NOT experience it. And finally, "good training should have appeared with quotes around it as that was what our leadership was fond of telling us almost on a daily basis. These changes are needed to make last weeks article more correct. Robert "Bob Krebs, 34, died Thanks again, guys. June 2 in Delta.
