Show Fire destroys $500,000 fSs north Juab cabinet shop The Allred and Bronson family Quality Craft cabinet shop near the Utah County line in northern Juab County was totally destroyed by fire Monday. The building, machinery, and contents were worth approximately $500,000. According to Greg Newton of the Mona Fire Department, the fire started at about 11:30 a.m. when a spark from a ventilator fan ignited paint and lacquer fumes in the shop. The Mona, Nephi, and Santa-quifire departments were dispatched to the scene, but engulfed in flames, said Newton. The departments attempted to save one end of the building, but were hampered by a lack of water. The settlement is supwater plied by a 13,000-gallotank, fed by wells. While the tank provides enough water for culinary use, it hasnt enough capacity to provide water for fire fighting. Tanker trucks were brought in, but by the time they were set up, the first trucks to arrive at the scene had run out of water. If wed have had another five minutes worth of water on our when they arrived, the majority truck, we could have saved the of the building was totally end of the building, but as it n n was, without water, we had no choice but to kick back and watch it burn, said Newton. The 20 men, four pumper trucks, and three water trucks labored for approximately three hours to keep the fire from spreading to the settlements homes and to a nearby propane tank. The Mona Fire Department stayed for another two hours to mop up hot spots. Two women were in the building when the fire broke out, but they escaped uninjured. Newton, however, was not so lucky.
