Its one of the excuses people give for continuing to smoke. But, pound for pack, youre better off giving up cigarettes, according to Dr. Jeffery L. Anderson, president of the Utah affiliate of the American Heart Association. Putting on pounds need not be a consequence of putting Anderson down cigarettes, reasons the at says. By looking that may lead to weight gain, you can develop action plans to avoid an expanded waistline. Here are some of the reasons people may gain weight 'when they quit smoking: Increased appetite. When you quit smoking, you may experience an increase in appetite and food intake. Since you no longer smoke after dinner, you may decide to have an extra helping, or a dessert. You might cut food into smaller pieces to extend dinner time, eat more cigarette or where friends are Avoid these situations smoking. when you first quit smoking.
