Mrs. Lovell was one of 44 librarians from Utah and two observers from Nebraska to receive training on a variety of library subjects. The librarians also were able to talk about areas of common interest and concern. The institute faculty was drawn from the state library staff and the Utah library community. Institute participants received certificates of achievement from Russell Davis, director of the state library division. The girls placed first in the league, first in the Ephraim Lions tournament, and first in the Utah Girls Softball Association state tournament. After the regular season, Jodi was selected by the Travelodge team of Moab to go with them to the Amateur Softball Association regional tournament held at Boulder, Colo.
