GIVE HORSES FEET GOOD WINTER CARE horse club proThe gram has been one of the programs in bigger the state in recent years. Scott McKendrik, asleader sistant state and program leader for horse program, the horse club advises members to be careful with their horses feet during the winter. He suggests. Dont make your horse walk on snowballs. Snow balling up in the horseshoes while the horse is out on pasture causes the horse discomfort and presents a potential hazard. McKento drik advises their make sure that horses get adequate foot care during the winter as well as during the summer. He suggests pulling off the horse shoes and letting the horse go barefoot for the winter. This allows the foot to expand and regrow to correct the problem of getting smaller and heels contracting with continuous shoeing. McKendrick also says, If you plan to use and ride your horse all winter and want it shod, dont neglect trimming the horses feet and reshoeinj as appropriate. You may want to shoe with a heel and toe cock to reduce slipping. Just remember . 4-- H 4-- H 4-- H 4-- H in the spring.
