June 12, 1980 New bishops called in Mona, Nephi First wards Newton. The Mona and Nephi First LDS Wards received new bishoprics on Sunday, June 11, 1980. Sustained as bishop of the Nephi First Ward was Fenton L. Broadhead. The new bishop of the Mona Ward is Dale B. Fowkes. Bishop Broadhead selected Arthur G. Ostler as his first counselor and Michael D. Hale as K his second counselor. Bishop Broadhead, 31, was born and raised in Nephi. He is the son of the late Elmer R. Broadhead and Anna R. Broadhead. He served an LDS mission in Brazil and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in economics. He is employed by the Juab School District as a teacher and coach. He also farms. He and his wife, Carol, are the parents of three children, Heather 3, Camille, 2, and Alisha, 1. Arthur G. The executive secretary was Ed TNPhoto At high school, Ray's, Ferg's, Premium, Allen's Vandals, thieves have 'fun' in Nephi this weekend, Monday Vandals caused extensive damage at the new high school i ., , this weekend. Steve Sperry of the Nephi City Police said persons entered the high school between Saturday noon and Sunday noon. They rode bicycles around the building, leaving , black , skid marks all over the schools new carpeting. The extent of the damage will not be known until school officials determine whether or not the carpet can be cleaned. The vandals also entered the new gymnasium and tipped over the schools trampoline, scarring the newly finished gym floor. Sperry says there were two or more persons involved. On Sunday, thieves stole a $10,000 travel trailer parked near Ray's Cafe. The trailer, a 1979 Holiday Rambler belonged to Mike Verrello of Noma, Arizona. Verrello had parked the trailer while he was having his truck repaired. When he came back to get the trailer, it was gone. On Monday, June 9, thieves broke into drink machines at Fergs and Premium Oil. They attempted to break into the machine at Allens Foodtown. Policemen estimate that $25 was taken from the machine at Premium Oil and $5 was taken, from the Fergs machine. No estimate was given for damage to r, the machines. Two suspects in the drink machine thefts were picked up later that day in Fillmore.
