Show Beef project brings benefits to local 4-H- by Blaine Junes USU Extension Agent er k. There is enjoyment satisfaction from participating in the beef project. So says Darin Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. (Bill) Howard ofNephi. Darin has been active beef program in the for six years. During that time, he has shown a total of 26 steers in junior livestock shows in Cedar City, Spanish Fork, Delta, Richfield, Tooele, and Nephi. He has had the grand champion steer in three of these shows and has placed third in three other shows. In 1978, he placed second in the beef carcass contest sponsored by the East Juab r I and 4-- H V r 4-- Cattlemens County Association. Last year he placed fourth in that competition. He has won 56 E. He has learned a lot about animals and how to take care of them. He has also learned responsibility; how to select the right kind of calves; how to figure, balance, and mix their rations; how to fit and show the calves; and about the economic decisions of the cattle cattleman has done alright.
