Jepson Funeral services held for Marion W. Jepson , 7 , Nephi resident Tuneral services were held in the Nephi ward chapel for Marion Wayne Jepson, 71. Jepson died Mav 1 1, 1978 in a Salt Lake City hospital of a heart attack. Jepson was born in St. George on June 13, 1906 to James Anthony and Louisa Cox Jepson. He married Jane Huffaker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 27, First-econ- d 1912. He had been a farmer in Hinckley and had served in the U. S. Army daring World War II. He was active in the LDS Church. He served an LDS mission in Canada and one with his wife in Oregon. He served in various church organizations. He w'as a high priest. Survivors are his widow of Nephi and two sons and one daughter- Wendell Wayne Jepson, Montpelier, Idaho; L. Wesley Jepson of Nephi; and Mrs. Marlon (Sherilvn) Kent of Orem. Also - sur-vivin- g are eight grandchildren. Jepson was buried at Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi. An Illinois man, James Bruce Magoon, was killed in a fire Friday night at L&Ls Red Carpet Inn motel in Nephi, police say. Magoon, a transient, was staying in a room rented by Mori is Olsen of Nephi. City police say Magoon was apparently smoking in bed when he fell asleep and his cigarette set the mattress on fire. old Rockford, IlThe linois man apparently woke up and attempted to get out of the room, but did not make it. He speculates that Magoon became disoriented in the srnokey room and entered the bathroom instead of going outside. Saturday, May 20, 1978 has been proclaimed as Poppy Day in Nephi by Mayor J. Barres Jenkins, officers of the American Legion Auxiliary have announced Puppy sales will go forward all day Saturday. Proceeds from the sales will go to help disabled veterans his proclamation. Mayor Jenkins says that the auxiliary has sponsored Poppy Day since 1921. Peterson of Nephi will seek a fourth Mrs. Lee Sperry, who with her husband owns the motel, said have not checked the room, she estimates the damage to be from $2,000 to $3,000.
