Mangelson said in his ad- dress at the closing of the general session of the Nephi Utah LDS Stakes quarterly conference held on Sunday. We should especially be grateful for Easter and the wonderful event which we recall on this occasion. Miss Nephi pageant set Six young Nephi ladies will vie for the honor of being Miss Nephi at the annual Miss Nephi pageant, to be held this Saturday, April 16, in the Juab High School auditorium. Mrs. Terry Menlove is general chairman for the Twentieth Century Club, who is sponsoring the pageant along with Nephi City. The girls participating in the contest are: Kathleen Jill Sperry, daughter of Bishop and Mrs. K. J. Sperry; Leanne Lynn, daughter of President and Mrs. Wesley A. Lynn; Kristy Lynne Parkin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Parkin; Sheila Marie Jarrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Jarrett; Jamie Ockey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Ockey Jr.; And Wendy Jorgensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Jorgensen. Relief Society choirs to present Program on Saturday An evening of music will be presented by the Nephi Utah LDS Stake Relief Society on Saturday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the stake house, according to an announcement made this week by Mrs. Thalia Mickelson, stake Relief Society president. Relief Society choirs from all wards of the stake will present an outstanding program, according to Mrs. Mickelson. All ladies of the stake are invited to attend. Several prizes have been posted by Nephi businesses. NRP, Inc., Valley Bank and Trust Company and First Security Bank are each contributing a $25.00 savings bond. Other contributors of merchandise or cash are The Cover Up, Catalina, Vard's Drive Kimo's Kamera, Inn, Dawns and Ted Chase Distributing. Fros-T-Free- Robert Morley of Moroni, an ac countant, will tally points listed by the judges on work sheets. Ushers at the pageant will be Rhett Peterson and Bert Whimpey. Gordon W. Bullock, executive vice president of the Provo Chamber of Commerce will be the master of ceremonies. The judges will be Dr. and Mrs. David Wright and Glenda Bullock, executive secretary of the Provo Chamber of Commerce. The accidents were investigated by the Juab County Sheriffs Department and the Sheriffs Patrol. An estimated 25,000 people jammed the sand dunes for the Easter weekend. Sheriff Robert L. N., Juab Countys public health nurse. Other winners were Shawn Ogden, $20; Tyson White and Jason Kay, each $10; and Brett Kelson, Marianne Ewell, Kalin McPherson and Kam Wright, each $5. The stakes presiding authority then urged that stake members should continue to build their testimonies now and in the future, and that we should consecrate ourselves to work for the good and benefit of all. The conference session was conducted by President Vaughn J. Paxman, who was also the initial speaker. He said: Its a wonderful thing life as it has been in our premortal state, life as it is now, and life as it will be for each of us beyond this sphere. He told of personal happenings in his life which had become teaching instances in furthering his knowledge of the gospel plan and concluded his remakrs with I marvel at the commands of the Lord to keep our own records. He urged all stake members to keep their personal records intact. Bert Whimpey and Susan Sowby spoke briefly, each giving account of incidents which had assisted them in building a testimony of the divinity of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterSaints. Each recalled having -day attended a testimony meeting in the Sacred Grove, and the effect that meeting had had upon their testimonies. President Wesley A. Lynn, in to conducting the business of the conference, spoke on the responsibility that each person has in fighting against evils and fighting for lina. They will give a report of their LDS mission at the Levan ward sacrament meeting on Sunday, April 17 at 5 p.m., according to an announcement made by Bishop Heber C. Taylor. Bishop Taylor invites all members of the Levan Ward to attend the sacrament meeting on Sunday. Murrell Bruce Services will be held Saturday for Murrell Bruce Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Nephi Third ward for Murrell Roland Bruce, 54, who died April 12, 1977 in Nephi of natural causes. Friends may call at Anderson Funeral home on Friday night from 7 to 9 and at the chapel prior to the services on Saturday. Bruce was born October 4, 1922 to Claude L. and Clara Whithead Carlson Bruce at Fort Worth, Texas. He married Norma Walker on December 10, 1945 in Sunnydale, Utah. He was a graduate of Hollywood High School in Burbank, California and the School of Mines, Reno, Nevada. He was a member of the LDS church. Survivors are his widow of Nephi; five sons, Murrell W. Bruce, Nephi; David H. Bruce, Boise, Idaho; Bruce, Boise, Idaho; Gerry Roland Bruce, Woodland, California; and Larry Dale Bruce, Esparto, California. He had twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother, Clara Carlson, Sheridan, Wyoming; a brother, Ted Bruce of Arizona; and a sister, Pat Walker, Sheridan, Wyoming. Le-Ro- y |
