The K-- J INSURANCE AGENCY K. I SI This book is entitled The Little , . Engine That Could. Maybe you read it when you were a member " of the lollipop generation. J. Agrrf SPERRY, Hwna Nod Main 623-038- NapM, Utah 7 sgBBt3tsa3snaan3i Its the story of a little blue switch engine that isnt supposed to be able to pull a long, heavy ' train over a steep mountain. It had never been over the peak, but the little engine gives it a try. As it chuffs up the grade, the little blue engine says an immortal line over and over. I think 1 can, is the line. Its a line every single youngster should memorize and use repeatedly. If a little boy thinks : he can get an A on a math test, chances are hell do just ; that, or at least come much clos-- : er to it. If a young girl thinks she ; can master a difficult piano ; piece, just watch her go! But if the young mathematician or musician thinks it cant be done, failure may be a foregone fact. A child psychologist has reservations about the kind of message in The Little Engine That the danger is Could, saying that the child tries things that are beyond his power, but really, isnt there a far greater danger that confronts our sons and daughters in life? Thats the danger of being frozen, paralyzed by the fear of trying out for the school band, the debate team, football squad, or course. a I said before that Im appalled at the number of children who . . have not read The Little Engine That Could. Its estimated that i eight million kids have read it. Thats not nearly enough. Have " ; your children read it?
