The Levan Ward Choir has been organized and participating regularly at sacrament Wards set Christmas programs this Sunday The sacred songs of Christmas with narrations will be featured in sacrament meetings in all the wards of the Nephi Utah LDS Stake on Sunday evening, according to announcements made this week by the respective choir leaders or bishoprics. Meetings will be held at regular times in all wards. In addition to the Sunday evening services featuring the ward choirs and other musical groups, special Christmas programs will be conducted in each ward Sunday School throughout the stake. Junior Sunday School members will join with the Ward Sunday school members in the special meetings, all at regular times. In the Mona Ward, special Christmastime selections will be presented by the choir with scripture readings by Ivy and Nephi Teerlink. Betty Ellertson is the director of the choir and Elena Stanley is the choirs accompanist. Following the choirs presentation, a testimony and talk will be given by Glen Gouch. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Ann B. Shepherd will narrate special scriptures in the Levan Ward choir presentation. Lawrence Brough, the choirs director, will give a vocal solo, and Fern T. Wankier will accompany the choir. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. In the Nephi First Ward, several sacred selections as well as familiar carols will be presented by the choir. Ronald Richardson is the choirs director and Donnell Blackham is the accompanist. Selections will include Jesu Bambino and Holy City. A special solo will be given by Mrs. Nancy Carter entitled 0 Divine Redeemer. The meeting time is 4 : 30 p. m. 0 Little Town of Bethlehem, a sacred cantata of Christmas, will be presented by the Nephi Second Ward choir on Sunday evening. Robert L. Tolley is the choirs director and Gail Kay is the accompanist. Soloists in connection with the choir selections are Michael Cowan, Heber Mem-mot- t, DeRees Magleby, LuAnn Osborne, and Diane Brough. A special double trio selection will be given by Mary Carol Bank to hold Special open house Friday Farmers, ranchers, and businessmen of the entire area are invited to attend a special open house at First Security Bank on Friday, December 19, according to Nelson Carter, bank manager. Carter said that a highlight of the open house will be the free showing of a movie pointing out the advantages of First Security Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA), and the Keogh retirement plan. The movie will be shown every half hour from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Carter said that all persons will be welcomed and refreshments will be served throughout the day. Goble, Diane Jolley, Betty Belliston, Peggy Memmott, DeAnn Burton, and Nancy Emmons. A mixed quartet selection will be given by Kelly Warren, Colleen Warren, Dale Tolley, and Jeffery Bean. Meeting time is 6:30 p.m. Several choir selections, with narration, will be featured by the Nephi Third Ward choir in sacrament meeting. Janet and Lynn Wright are the narrators, Fern Garrett is the director of the choir, and Rheta Sperry and Donna McPherson are the accompanists. Meeting time is 6:30 p m. In the Nephi Fifth Ward, Jesus of Nazareth is the cantata which will be presented. Viola W. Ockey is director of the choir and Ethelyn Bailey and LuOna Pris-bre- y are accompanists. Readers for the cantata presentation will be Gwen Chapman and Lynn Bailey. Cantata selections include Song of Bethlehem, David Austin and ladies chorus; 0 Little Town of Bethlehem, choir; Away in the Manger, duet, Rebecca Bracken and Becky Sperry; The Shepherd on his Lonely Hill and Far, Far Away, choir; The Quest of the Magi, Dwain Bracken and choir; The Stranger of Galilee, choir; and 0 Holy Night, LaRae Kendall and choir. Meeting time is 6:30 p.m. The Nephi Fourth Ward choir will present The Spirit of Christmas. In addition to several selections by the choir, directed by Don Royce and accompanied by Ellen Garrett, selections will include a vocal solo by Cary G. Peterson; a ladies trio selection featuring Carol Stuart, Lorraine Hayes, and Isabel Carter; a quartet selection by Lorrie Kelsey, Ellen Steele, Cindy Taylor, and Clara Munk; and an organ-pian- o duet by Ellen Garrett and Don Royce. Readers will be Verna J. Wright, Willard Hill, Alden Blaine, and Judy Ellertson. Meeting time is 4:30 p.m. Selections by the Nephi Sixth Ward choir will highlight the sacrament meeting in the Nephi Sixth Ward on Sunday, December 21. In addition to the special choir music, special selections will include a piano solo by Jeanette Wilkey; a vocal solo by David Spencer; a duet selection by Tamera Epperson and Julie Wilkey; and a quartet selection by Kelly and Kyle Pexton, Tamera Epperson, and Julie Wilkey. Ramon Memmott is the director of the choir and Mrs. Eugene Wilkey is the accompanist. In addition to the musical selections, a Christmas message will be given by Bishop Ned H. Worthington. Number 5 1975 A wide variety of matters of the Nephi City Council occupied the at their regular meeting held Monday evening, according to a report furnished by Evan A. Frampton, City Recorder. Although announced as approved several weeks ago, the transfer of funds from Nephi City to Nephi Enterprises for the purchase of land for the establishment of an industrial park was formally approved at the Monday evening meeting. The transfer will be made as quickly as an agreement is signed by representatives of Nephi Enterprises, Nephi City, and Juab County covering the property involved. The agreement was called for in a motion approved by the council calling for reimbursement to Nephi City, Juab County, and Nephi Enterprises on a prorata basis from any sale of property within the industrial park. City Attorney Udell R. Jensen was asked to prepare such an agreement immediately. Councilman Leon Pexton reported on a meeting that he had attended with Bureau of Reclamation officials concerning Temperature at Levan hits 2 degrees below zero Dec. 15 The temperature at Levan hit a minus 2 degrees on Sunday night, and warmed up to a 2 degrees above zero on Monday night, according to the report furnished Tuesday by Derle Hansen, observer at the Levan weather reporting station. Nephi was only slightly warmer, says Evan Frampton, Nephi observer. He recorded a 4 reading for Sunday night and a 16 reading for Monday night. Selected as first attendant to Miss Sperry is Miss Hanalee Parkin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parkin. Miss Arlene Carter, daughter of Rex Carter, was selected as second attendant. Miss Mary Winn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Winn, was voted by the contestants in the Miss Juab contest as Miss Congeniality. The Miss Juab contest was held on December 4 and w'as judged by persons from Millard county. Each of the contestants was interviewed by the judges for five minutes. All of the contestants then met with the judges at Rays Supper Club for a luncheon. Judge Burns with a reauest for Burns did not grant the request, and the case will be on the trial calendar early in 1976. The case involves a truck of the plaintiff which burned at the City Land-Figarbage disposal operation. - The council received a request from Pexton Wholesale Co., Inc., for a longterm lease of land occupied by an airplane hangar at the Nephi City airport, providing the hangar can be purchased from the Nephi Flying Club by the applicant. The lease on the council approved a land, and instructed City Attorney Udell Jensen to prepare the lease. Councilman Leon Pexton abstained from the vote. s The council voted for approval of a claim of nearly $400.00 on a previously approved project involving discontinuance of sewer service to Vaughn J. Paxman and the placing of the drains from the residence back into a cesspool. It was pointed out that because of the inadequate depth of the sewer lines in the area, the drainage would not provide satisfactory service for the residence. City Attorney Udell Jensen was asked to investigate the ordinances covering the storage of gasoline for service stations in view of an application by Robert Andersen for a license for the car wash, convenience store, and service station at 645 South Main. The gasoline storage was the only question raised concerning the granting of the license. s ll k- ar Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Taylor of Salem have recently purchased Dotties Fashions stores in Nephi, Spanish Fork, and Heber City. The stores w ill be operated as Dawns, and a grand opening under the new name will be held at the Nephi store during Jan- uary. Taylor said that for the present time, the basic lines of merchandise will be offered in the stores as heretofore and that the employees of Dotties w ill remain with the new ASC Chairman management Dotties has been operated in Nephi for 10 years by Mrs. Dorothy DuDan Blacks to be honored Mr. and Mrs. Harrison E. ( Harry ) Black will be honored at an open house on their 60th wedding anniversary this Sunday, December 21, from 2 to 4 p m. at the Nephi Fine Arts Center, 165 East First South, Nephi. Mr. and Mrs Black were married on December 20, 1915 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Mr. Black has worked as an auto mechanic and plumber, and prior to his retirement was a steam fitter at Geneva Steel. Mrs. Elizabeth Black has been active in 1 Many items discussed by council Reid Jarrett, 19, and Jerry Kendall, 18. Jarrett was the driver of the pickup which w'as struck by a north bound Union Pacific freight train. The pickup was totally demolished and landed in the irrigation creek west of the tracks, according to Nephi City Police Chief David Lunt and Sheriff Robert Painter, the investigating officers. According to Chief Lunt, the train came to a stop in 450 feet, indicating that is was moving at a reasonable speed. The young men were taken to the Juab County Hospital and were kept overnight on Tuesday.
