At this election there are to be elected five directors; two to serve for two years and three to serve for one year The five directors elected together with the hold overs from and Gilbert 1938, Max Thomas Bailey will be responsible for the Stampede for 1939. If you are behind this project and want to see it continue, you should be on hand next Monday and lend your support. A large and enthusiastic crowd is most desirable. In the past at similiar meetings called for this purpose the response has been very small. It seems to the committee that has served for the past three years that the merchants of this town are so sure that the sames one are going to put this celebration on each year whether they show up or not. Nephi has never put anything over that has given this city the advertising the Ute Stampede has given it. If the citzens and merchants of this community are desirous of continuance of the Ute Stampede it is up to you to turn out and put your shoulder to the wheel. The present committee desires a rest. PATRIOTIC PROGRAM SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY In commemoration of the birth of Washington, "father of his country, and Lincoln, the great emanThe American Legion cipator, Auxiliary, under the leadership of Mrs. J. V. Cooper, president, has arranged a program to be presented at the Juab high school auditorium on Washingtons birthday at 2.30 p. .m The program will be presented before the high school student body, but all citizens are invited to attend, and the heads of all patriotic organizations of the city are invited to occupy a place on the platform. Honor to Washington and Lincoln and duty and responsibility of citizenship will be the themes of the program. Short talks will be given by M. M.- OGara, veteran of the Spanish-America- n War, L. K. Webb, veteran of the World War, and a talk on citizenship will be given by Timothy H. Irons. Musical selections will be given by the high school band, Mrs. A. J. Crapo, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ralph Barnes, and Mrs. Will L. Hoyt. The News, Vol. 20, No. 7 Chonita High School Opera Friday Night Water Project For Utah Is Stage Setting Is Most Beautiful, Costumes Are Very Elaborate Friday night the gypsy operetta Chonita is to be presented in the Juab High School auditorium. The clever libretto and the fact that the music is based upon the themes of Franz Liszt are enough in themselves to assure the public an entertaining evening. This year however, the quality of the opera will be augmented by a fifteen piece orchestra, costumes by Hillam and Son of Salt Lake City, and a stage setting which is magnificent. The orchestra is composed of talented townspeople and students and the playing is surperb. The colorful clothes of the gypsies as well as the formal attire of 1880 are authentically reproduced. In the first and third acts we have a gypsy encampment, the setting of which surpasses any stage set-ti- g which has been seen before in Nephi. This is enchanged, as is the setting of the Stanescu home, by well planned light effects. Taking everything into consideration cast, songs, libretto, orchestra, costumes, stage setting, and lights you are certain of a delightful and profitable evening If you attend Chonita Friday night in the Juab High School Auditor- Being Discussed Brayton Lauds Lincoln As Bill Before Senate To Appropriate $100,000 For Preliminary Survey G O P Founder Senate Bill No. 242, which was presented last Saturday and calls for the appropriation of $100,000 for investigation of water and powSalt of Latimer Arch Passes Harold Olpin er resources of the Colorado River Great Basin project by the Utah Lake City Delivered Tests For Eagle Water Storge commission is gaining much favorable comment and Rank In Scouting Leading Educators, Philosophers, Speech Gettysburg is very likely to be passed by both Agriculturists, Poultrymen, Dairyhouses, according to information men, Home Demonstration Agents and Home Economists, from all At the Juab Court of Honor held Dean F.
