Top unit May is state Jaycee Richard May of Nephi was elected president of the Utah Jaycees at the e convention held this Jaycees Snead The Nephi chapter of the Jaycees was selected as the number one chapter in the State at the Jaycees annual convention held this past weekend in Vernal. In addition to being selected the number one chapter, the Nephi Jaycees also won a Blue Chip award, given to the top thirty percent of the chapters in the state, and a Gold Chip award, given to a chapter that has received the Blue Chip award for five consecutive years. They also won first place in Internal and External ROC areas. Several individuals from the Nephi Chapter also received awards. Richard May received the Outstanding National Director award, Vard White received the Outstanding State Vice Presidents award, Jerry Steele was selected one of the five outstanding local presidents, and Hap White was selected one of the five outstanding state directors for the third year in a row. Tim Goldsbrough, former Nephi Man, dies Timothy Miners Goldsbrough, 71 died at Seattle, Washington early Wednesday, according to word received in Nephi by his brother-in-laGeorge D. Haymond Jr., and his sister, Diane B. Dorius. Mr. Goldsbrough was born in Nephi and spent his early. life here, being active in school and community affairs. He married Dorothy Haymond and they have resided in Seattle, Washington for many years. Survivors are his widow, Dorothy H. Goldsbrough of Seattle, one daughter, Barbara Katherow; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Diane B. Dorius, Nephi and Merci Griffith. Services held for former Nephi resident raduation Frid FFA teams win in State Ag. contests at Juab Joseph Bernini of Eureka was elected Three teams from the Mt. Nebo Chapter Future Farmers of America placed high in state contests held recently in Logan. The Agricultural Mechanics team placed second in the state in that event. The team members are Tracy Olsen, Brent Dailey, Rod Shepherd and Kerry yates. Tracy Olsen was the third high person in Agricultural Mechanics. The land judging team, consisting of Tracy Olsen, Rod Shepherd, Chris Neilsen, and Brent Dailey - placed third in their event, and the crop judging team consisting of James Neilsen, Gordon Young, Chris Neilsen and Raymond Young placed fourth in their field. of the chairman of the Juab County Democratic party at the organizational convention Monday evening. W. Greenhalgh of Santaquin, parents of Mrs. Darlene Fowkes of Mona will hold an open house celebrating their sixtieth wedding anniversary and Mr. Greenhalghs eighty-thirbirthday anniversary on Sunday, d May 27 in Santaquin. The open house will be held at their home at 389 East Third North. The couple make the request of no gifts please. Services were held in Salt Lake City Saturday for Max Douglas Tolley, 56 who died May 15 of natural causes in a local hospital. Tolley was born May 25, 1916 in Nephi, to Hyrum and Bessie Whitacker Tolley. He married Vesta Stauffer on July 22, 1937, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Tolley was a heating contractor and owner of Tolley Sales and Service. Survivors include his widow; sons, daughters, Michael, Kevin both of Salt Lake City; Dwight, Longview, Washington; Mrs. Brent (Dana) Randall, Susan, both of Salt Lake City, and eight Also surviving are his grandchildren. brothers and sisters, Spencer, Elgin, Oregon; Meri, Moses Lake, Washington; Frank, Bill, Mrs. Ken (Ruth) Zabriskie, all of Nephi; Mrs. Clinton (Phyllis) Price, of Salt Lake City, and H. L. Tolley, Milford. Mobile clinic set at Mt. Pleasant A mobile clinic sponsored by the Primary Childrens Hospital of Salt Lake City will be held in Mt. Pleasant on May 25, High School. The exercises, scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. will be held in the Juab High School auditorium. The theme for the program, A Time for Us, will be introduced by LuAnn Stanley, Valedictorian of the class. In addition to musical numbers to be presented, various students in the top ten of the class will present several speeches. Nephi students win in VICA contest Two students from Nephi wer-- among those who participated in the annual skill contest and banquet of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America held recently in Salt Lake City. They are Larry Greenhalgh and Iris Tolley, both of whom won first place in their respective fields. Iris placed first in job interview for Diesel Mechanics and Larry placed first in mechanical drafting. Iris has been attending Utah Technical College at Provo and Larry is completing two years at Utah Technical College at Sal Lake. In addition to receiving medals and ribbons for their prowess, first place winners have an opportunity to attend the national finals of the VICA club to be held in Oklahoma. They are entitled, A Time to Dream, A Time to Live, A Time to Thank You, A Time to Achieve, A Time to Leave. The graduates will then receive their diplomas and the graduating class will be accepted by the authorities of Juab High School and Juab School District. After the ceremony, members of the class will adjourn to the gymnasium for a formal dance. Music will be provided by the Burt Murdock orchestra. Pleasant Woodford Wilkerson, Mona in Santa Clara, Utah on May 11, 1973 for Mrs. May Nielsen, a former resident of Levan. Mrs. Nielsen was the mother of Mrs. Ross (Floy) Harper of Levan. Mrs. Neilsen died May 8 at a St. George hospital. She was born November 20, 1894 in Hanksville, Utah to William and Florence Halliday Bacon. She married John Jesse Nielsen on May 15, 1912 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died December 15, 1971. Mrs. Nielsen was an ordinance worker in the Manti and St. George Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John (Opal) Jensen, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs Wilford (Venice) Westman. Spring-MilMrs Ross (Floy) Harper. Rowe, Mona Funeral services were held The class of 1973 will graduate this Friday at commencement exercises held Joseph Bernini named county Demo chairman 3 teachers to retire Three teachers who are retiring at the end of this school year were honored at the elementary school PTA on Friday of last week. They are Mrs. Itha Gadd, Mrs. Evelyn Lomax and Mrs. Verda Oliver. Each teacher received a corsage. Mrs. Zella Sutherland, who is retiring from her position in the school lunch program after 12 years of service was also honored and received a corsage. Mrs. Gadd attended school at Utah State University and Brigham Young University. She taught for seven years at Downey, Idaho, and for two years in Nephi before getting married. She resumed teaching in 1954. Mrs. Oliver attended the University of Utah, San Diego State College and Brigham Young University.
