Lunt, ' A Senior Citizen Head Funeral services were conducted Wednesday for Burnell Morris Lunt, 76, retired farmer and cattleman. Mr. Lunt died at the Payson Hospital November 27 of natural causes, Services were conducted by Bishop Vaughn J. Paxman of the Nephi Second Ward. Mr. Lunt, president of the East Juab Senior Citizens organization, was bom at Nephi January 30, 1895, a son of John Henry and Rose Ellen Carter Lunt. He married Florence Hiskey June 17, 1926 at Preston, Idaho and the marriage later was solemnized at the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Mr. Lunt had been a farmer and livestock man throughout his lifetime. For several years he was employed by Thermoid Company at its Nephi plant. He was a past president of Nephi Irrigation Company, and of the Nephi Cattlemens Association. He had served as president of the Nephi Second Ward Choir for 16 years, and had been a counselor in the Young Mens MIA orHe was a member of the ganization. Second Quorum of Elders, in the Nephi Second Ward. Surviving are his widow of Nephi; two sons and a daughter: J. Morris and David B. Lunt, both of Nephi, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Cammans of Corvina, California; a stepson, Paul J. Andrews of San Mateo, California; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Ora Lunt and Frank Lunt, both of Nephi; Mrs. Arvilla Powers and Mrs. Erma Jensen, both of Brigham City; and Mrs. Ludean Park, Salt Lake City. Burial at the Vine Bluff cemetery was directed by Anderson Funeral Home. Peterson, Fountain Green Charlotte White, Goshen Dana White, Nephi Bonds Sales Report Given Sales of Savings Bonds in Juab County has reached 100.3 of the 1971 quota, with November and December sales yet to go, according to an announcement made this week by Kenneth Nyman, Juab County Savings Bond chairman. October sales of Series E and H bonds totaled $8,091, bringing the total to $85,249. Wrestling Teams Meet Tonight Wrestling season opens officially for Juab WaspWrestlers Thursday, December 2 (tonight) with a match with the Gunnison Bulldogs. Wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, and in some areas of the Midwest draws larger crowds than basketball. One wrestling match at Brighton High School last year drew over 2,000 people. Driving too fast for existing conditions is the legal terminology for the accidents. Existing conditons, Mr. Taylor stated, were snow slick roads and Snow-slickene- One of the outstanding musical programs of its type scheduled in East Juab County in recent years will be held Saturday evening at the Juab Stake House, starting at 7:30 p.m. The program is under the sponsorship of the Nephi d Wards building fund comn mittees and will feature a former Nephi lady, Roene Bigler DiFiore. She currently is director of special activities at Dixie College at St George. Roene has been giving musical prorams and directing choral groups since her days at Juab High School. She has conducted successful productions in Nephi, Payson, Richfield and in Southern Utah. She has performed at many state conventions, as well as in numerous communities thrughout the state. In addition to Mrs. DiFiore, participating on the program will be Merrill Jensen, trumpet player; Rberta Rahlse, soprano; Ronald Staheli, pianist and Donald Blackburn, vocalist. Lunt Services al Fillmore Saturday For Father of Levan Lady Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fillmore Third Ward Chapel for Philander B. Day, 82. Mr. Day died at a Nephi rest home at 6 a.m. Wednesday of natural causes. Mr. Day was father of Mrs. Lyman (Leora D.) Christensen of Levan. Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary at Fillmore Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday prior to the services. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alta Lambert Day of Fillmore; one son and two daughters: Phil B. Day, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Christensen, Levan and Mrs. August (Merl) Pearson, Fillmore. Also nine surviving are 13 grandchildren, great grandchildren an da sister, Mrs. Cora Maxfield, Delta. Asks Nominations for Two Region Board Positions Juab Hospilal Patient List To Many Accidents First-Secn- BLM An Orem, Utah young man has been arrested on the theft of furniture from the Hall home on Seventh East and First North. Kempton E. Motes, Nephi City police officer made the arrest when he noted furniture being removed from the unused home. Dennis Ray Baird is out of jail on a $500.00 bond, and is awaiting further action early this month in the Court here. In other action by Law Enforcement officers, Nina Ann Rader, 18, and Jay Rodney Rader, 24, posted a $500 bond on November 26 following their arrest on a grand larceny charge. Sheriff A. Duane Sperry said Mr. and Mrs. Rader were charged with theft of a television sed from Siesta Motel. Grand larceny is the charge when over $50.00 of materials is involved in a theft, Sheriff Sperry stated. The Pasadena, Texas couple have posted a bond and are awaiting trial in the District Court. Storm Contributes Musical Program Set Saturday Evening Nominations for members of Fillmore Districts 3 and 10 advisory board members for those terms expiring on December 31, will be accepted Friday, Decem-ib- e 3 according to Warren Brough, District Manager for the Fillmore District, Bureau of Land Management. In District 10, which consists of portions of Juab and Sanpete Counties, and northern Millard County, the terms of sheep representative Newell Johnson and cattle representative Herman Munster expire. District three consists of western Sanpete County, southern Millard County, and Beaver County. Terms of Stanley McKnight and Olaf George Mr. McKnight represents the expire. sheepmen and Mr. George the cattlemen on the board. Nominations for district ten positions will be accepted in person Friday, at 1 p.m. at the Delta City building, Fountain Green city building, and the Fillmore BLM office. In addition to livestock representatives each advisory board has a wildlife representative appointed by the BLM State Director. Presently, West Barton of Fillmore and Othel L. Pay of Nephi are serving in these positions. Fireside Scheduled Sunday A Stake Mutual Fireside will be held on Sunday, December 5 at the Juab Stake House, starting at 7:30 p.m. Speakers will be the Bori family from Cuba. All Mutual members from the age of 14 and up are invited to attend. This does not include married couples, but is for the youth of the stake. Baptismal Services Set Baptismal services will be held Saturday, December 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stake d Font in the Nephi Ward building, according to K. J. Sperry, Chairman of the Juab Stake Bishops Council. This is one-hahour earlier than usual. Recommends for baptism must be issued by the ward Bishop prior to the baptismal services. Most seriously injured in the several accidents was Alene Cook of Salt Lake City, who had battery acid splattered on her face and in her eyes following the tumbling of her 1966 Volkswagen. The accident occurred one-ha- lf mile north d of the County line on highway 91. The victim was rushed to the Juab County Hospital by the Patrolman for emergency treatment, and a passenger in the car, Gail Wooten, also of Salt Lake City, was hospitalized with minor injures. First accident of the weekend series occurred at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon one mile south of the Sevier River crossing, also on Highway 91. Sherry Joan Wasden of Parowan was only shaken rollover. up in the one-ca- r While pulling a car onto the road near the Sanpete County line on 8 south of Levan, the Painter Motor Co. wrecker was crashed into by a car driven by David Evans of Tucson, Arizona. The wrecker had only minor damage, but the car driven by Mr. Evans was totaled out, Patrolman Taylor statJuab-Millar- U-2- Charges Filed in JAYCEES INVITE CALLS Hunting Death . William D. Bosch, 27, Layton, has been charged with an indictable misdemeanor, involuntary manslaughter, in a complaint signed by Sheriff A. Duane Sperry. The complaint alleges that Mr. Bosch fired the shot that killed Patrick Lee Grover, 22, Clearfield on October 24. Mr. Grover was killed during a snow storm, and while hunting deer in the Cow Hollow area off Salt Creek Canyon. Action in the case will be taken in the court of Justice of the Peace R. Norman Greenhalgh. Perry W. Tolley, Former Nephi Resident Dies in Idaho FOR SANTA CLAUS VISITS The Nephi Jaycees again this year are making arrangements for Christmas eve visits by Santa Claus to homes In this area. Perry W. Tolley, 79, retired brick mason, and former resident of Nephi, died at his home at Rigby, Idaho Saturday, November 20 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Rigby on November 23. Mr. Tolley was born March 18, 1892 at Nephi, son of George William and Ether Francis Christensen Tolley. He married Ella Fowkes at Nephi December 23, 1912. An elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, he also was a member of the LDS Sociables Club of Rigby. Survivors are several sons and daughters. Brothers and sisters surviving include Mrs. Rhoda Cobbley of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Fonda Earl and Mrs. Eva Smith of Nephi; Ernest Tolley of Hagerman, Idaho and Eugene Tolley of San Diego, California. Opportunities to he Discussed At Orientation Meeting To better inform students and parents of post high school opportunities for education and employment, Juab High AssoSchool and the Parent-Teacheciation will present a orientation seminar on Wednesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Wayne O. Kearney, dean of students at Utah Teachnical College at Provo will discuss various courses offered at that school and will tell of job opportunities awaiting graduates. Calvin E. Neilsen, guidance couselor at the high school, will discuss various colleges and how to make application for them. He also will give information on scholarships and how and when to apply for them. These discussions will be of Interest to the general public, but junior and senior students and their parents are especially invited to be in attendance. rs U. S. Steel Executive Named Bonds Chairman Salt Lake City Appointment of David L. Bigler, regional director of public relations for United States Steel, as volunteer chairman of the 1972 "Take Stock in America Savings Bond campaign in Utah was announced Saturday by Wendell Gile, state chairman, Savings Bonds Division, U. S. Treasury Department. In this position, Mr. Bigler will succeed Clark L. Wilson, manager, Utah Operations, Anaconda Co., who directed a highly successful campaign last year. Mr. Gile is senior vice president of Continental Bank & Trust Co. The new chairman in 1972 will head up a campaign by Savings Bonds Volunteers throughout Utah to enlist citizens for the first time in Payroll Savings or plans or increase their participation under these programs. In Juab County, Kenneth Nyman, manager, First Security Bank of Utah, Nephi office, serves as chairman for the Utah Savings Bond Committee. Mr. Bigler is a native of Utah, and is a graduate of University of Utah. Bond-a-Mon- th ed. At about 2 a.m. Monday, 3 miles south of the Sevier River on 91, a car driven by Margo White of Bountiful was wrecked following collusion with a camper bus driven by Albert Yen of Palos Verdes, California. Mrs. White suffered multiple fractures of an arm, and her two daughters, Marquetta 12 and Shannie, 10, were slightly injured. And again, at this accident. Painter Motor Co.s wrecker took the brunt of another crash, when it was sideswiped on the other side by a passing truck. Sergent A. Rex Hill assisted Mr. Taylor in the investigations. -- all-nig- ht Merif Badge Affair Saturday A Scout merit badge pow wow will be held on Saturday, December 4 at the Noyes building at Snow College, Ephraim. Cub Scout leader training will be held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cub Scout den mothers and leaders may call Mrs. Dwain Bracken if they need transportation. Attendance at a pow wow meeting is a requirement for earning den mother awards. Miss Anderson Is Harvest Ball Queen Miss Julie Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest G. Anderson of Nephi, was selected Queen of the annual Harvest Ball held at the Juab High School November 24. Miss Anderson is a sophomore at the schooL Selected as attendants are Peggy Cowan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Cowan, Miss Linda Warren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Warren, and Miss Tonya Kay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Kay of Mona. Misses Cowan and Warren share honors as fust attendant, and Miss Kay is second attendant The royalty was selected by vote of those attending the dance. The dance was sponsored by the Future Homemakers of America and the Future Farmers of America chapters at Juab High School. Funeral Saturday At Fourth Ward For Mrs. Bowles Mrs. Catherine (Kate) Bailey Bowles, December 1, at a Payson Hospital of natural causes. ' Funeral services for Mrs. Bowles will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Nephi Fourth Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Anderson Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 pun., and at the chapel Saturday prior to the services. Bom at Nephi May 7, 1879, she was daughter of Langley Allgood and Sarah Andrews Bailey. She was married to William Alvin Bowles November 17, 1910 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Mr. Bowles died in 1926. A lifelong resident of Nephi, she was an active member of the LDS church, having served in exery auxiliary, inclhd-in- g the presidency of the ward Relief Socity. She was a Relief Society class leader until three months ago. She had been a member of the Singing Mothers and of the Fourth Ward choir. Mrs. Bowles had served as a Relief Society visiting teacher throughout her lifetime. With poetry as a hobby, Mrs. Bowles has had several poems published in the Relief Society Magazine, the most recent in the final issue of the publication. She was active in civic affairs, serving as vice captain of the state Blackhawk commttee for 40 years, and was an officer of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Juab County company and Salt Creek camp. She served for many years as a member of the Juab County Fair Board, and taught school in Juab and Sanpete Counties for five years. She worked at the Juab County Courthouse for several years. Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. J. J. (Virginia) Keeler and Miss Catherine Bowles, Provo and Mrs. Robert D. (Geraldine) Barker, Bountiful; 10 grandchlld-re- n and 11 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. L. E. (Pearl) Snarr, Provo. Burial will be in the Nephi City cemetery, directed by Anderson Funeral Home. 92, died Wednesday, Superinfendenf Menlove Remains Critical' at Hospital Although signs point to a slight improvement in the condition of Superintendent Ralph W. Menlove, he remained unconscious at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. Menlove received serious head injuries in a multple-vehicaccident near Kanosh last Tuesday evenle ing. Mr. Menloves condition is reported by serious to critical. the hospital to be Lose, Win Week's Games Juab High Schools Wasps were defeated soundly by Grantsville last Friday night in the season opener, but came back to whip Escalante on Saturday. Grantsville defeated Juab while the Wasps took the measure of Escalante 95-4- 7, Kim Sperry scored and rebounded well for Juab in the first game, while Scott Christensen and Steven Howarth provided the spark in Juabs victory over Escalante. Juab will meet Milford at Milford on Friday evening, and then return to the home court to meet East Carbon Saturday evening. Game times for the East Carbon encounter are 6:15 for junior varsity and 8:00 for varsity. 79-4- 7.
