Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Mrs. J. Ivan Tew Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Nephi Fourth Ward chapel for Mrs. Ellen LaVelle Ockey Tew, 78, wife of J. Ivan Tew of Nephi. Mrs. Tew died at the Juab County Hospital July 11, of natural causes. Bishop Ralph E. Chase conducted the services. Mrs. Tew was bom at Nephi August 20, 1893, a daughter of David and Mary She was Esther Goldsbrough Ockey. married to John Ivan Tew February 20, 1918 at the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da-y Saints. She was an active member of the Nephi Fourth Ward, serving in the ward choir and in the Relief Society. Survivors are her husband, J. Ivan Tew of Nephi; three sons and four daughters: John L. Tew of Salt Lake City; Milton H. Tew, David I. Tew and Mrs. Guy (Erma) Baker of Riverside, California; Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Johnson, Upland, California; Mrs. Paul (Joyce) Daniels, Heber City and Mrs. Daniel W. (Deon) Olsen, of Ephraim. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two brothers: Henry Ockey and Theron Ockey, both of Salt L ci It & City. Burial at the Vine Bluff cemetery was directed by Anderson Funeral Home. Officers Installed For Levan Lions Heber G. Clouded by Metals Industry Strike The outlook for the third quarter of is fair, but will be affected by labor problems in the metals industries (Kennecott Copper strike) and in some construction areas. Mineral production in the Beehive state for the half-yeperiod was slightly below year ago levels for most metals, according to the News Letter. Copper production during the period averaged somewhat below 25,000 tons per month and was nine per cent lower for the first four months of the year. Domestic prices for electrolytically refined coupper were down eight cents from June of last year, and domestic consumption was slightly lower. It will be directed by the Board of the Sevier River Water Users Association, the sponsoring organization for the study. The study was made by the U. S. Department of Agriculture with assistance from federal, state and local agencies. It identifies and recommends solutions for problems consering the conservation and use of water and land within the basin. All interested parties are invited to attend and participate, especially water users in the Sevier drainage. Two former East Juab County residents have been sustained as members of Bishoprics, according to word received office. at The Times-New- s Raymond Peterson, son of Mrs. Edna Peterson of Levan, was sustained as first counselor in the Bishopric of the Midvale Fifth Ward. Under the direction of the Primary, the Boy Scouts will conduct a flag raising ceremony at 6:30 a.m., to be followed by a short program at the City Hall. Relief Society ladies of the Ward will (conduct a bake sale, starting at 9:30, also at the City Hall. This will be followed by a parade at 10 a.m., and the parade will goalong the street east of the Levan Ward chapel. The parade will be sponsored by the Primary, and will be followed by a program at the Levan Cultural Hall. MIA officials are planning a gala lunch time at the City Park, with everything in the way of sandwihehes, cold drinks and refreshments on sale. Kiddies of the area will compete in sports events at 2 p.m. at the park, and a feature will be a demonstration Riding Club. by the Levan Fun rides for the kiddies will be on the afternoon schedule, and a ball game is also scheduled The Elders famous chuck wagon supper will be served at the park at 6 p.m., and immediately following an auction will be conducted by the Sunday School.
