Contract Let for Work at Brush Beryllium Mine in Juab County Convention of County Daughters of Pioneers Scheduled for Friday The Juab County Daughters of the Utah Pioneers annual convention will be held Friday, June 7 at the Juab Stake House. Children and Matches Blamed for Fire The explosive combination kids with matches was blamed by Fire Chief DeLoye Anderson for a fire which caused considerable damage to the garage buildings at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Linton Monday afternoon. The garage was severely damaged, and destroyed in the fire was an antique Model T Ford owned by Miles Anderson. Lawn mowers, and other equipment of the Lintons also was destroyed. Brush Beryllium Company has announced that it will begin stripping operations immediately on its beryllium ore properties in western Juab County. A contract for removal of overburden from the Roadside Mine has been awarded to the Jack B. Parsons Construction Company of Smithfield, Utah, according to Kenneth R. Poul-somanager of the Geologic, Exploration and Mining Division of Brush Company. The work of removing the overburden will begin immediately and mining operations are expected to begin late this year or early in 1969, Mr. Poul-so- n said. The mining property is In the Topaz Mountain area of Juab County, some 50 miles north and west of Delta. Ore will be shipped to the companys beryllium processing mill now under construction near Lynndyl. Mr. Poulsen said the present stripping program will expose ore in depths to 100 feet. The beryllium mining and milling complex, being undertaken at a cost of $8 to $10 million, will make Utah the largest beryllium producing area in the United States and possibly the world, Mr. Poulsen said. n, Boating Outing Date Postponment Made Announcement has been made by the Juab Stake Aaronic Priesthood Youth committee that it has become necessary to postpone the Aaronic Priesthood and Fathers boating party, previously announced for June 15, until Saturday, June 22. The affair will be held at the Yuba State Boating Park during the late afternoon, and will be for members of the Aaronic Priesthood and their fathers.
