Schools concerned In Juab District are the Levan Elementary and the Mona Elementary. Under the proposed new regulations, these schools would be closed and all students would be transported to Nephi. Pexton Mayor of Nephi City 9-- Teachers Heeded For Head Start' Reservation Program t( by Curtis P. Harding, Administrator of the Utah De partment of Employment Security. The employer would be the Ute Indian Tribe, who for the first time is attempting this type of training for their children. Mr. Harding said the rate of pay would vary from $5,000 to $6,000 per year and the openings were for both men and women. Housing is adequate in both the Roosevelt and Vernal areas which are approximately 15 to 20 miles from the place of employment. Mr. Harding said that more information can be obtained at any State Employment Security office. . x i Miss Judy Garrett Engagement Told President and Mrs. R. Speech Contest A Nephi young man will represent the State of Utah in the Western region, Future Farmers of America, public speaking contests at Kansas City, Missouri next week. He is Gary B. Jones son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Jones of Nephi, and a past president of the Mt. Nebo Chapter of FFA. Gary, accompanied by Jay Daley, FFA chapter advisor, will leave Saturday afternoon. Gary will compete in the western region contest on Tuesday morning. The national finals for regional winners will be on Wednesday night Other delegates attending the national convention from the Mt. Ted Williams, 57, Number 40 Manaelson, Former Levan Resident Dies in Funeral services were held Salt Lake City Wednesday for Martin Wilford Mangelson, foimer resident of Levan and Nephi. Mr. Mangelson died Sunday in a Salt Lake rest home of causes incident to his advanced age. Mr. Mangelson was bom at Levan February 23, 1880, a son of Charles and Eliza Nelson Mangelson. Married Margaret Annette Christenson April 1, 1908 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died October 26, 86, 1954. that an exception to this rule had been made in behalf of those students who took the test at the University of Utah on May 21. as their answer sheets were lost in the mail and therefore no results have been made available to their local hoards.-Thesstudents are eligible to retake the test and are encouraged to do so. A student registrant desiring to take the College Qualification Test may get an application and bulletin of information at any Selective Sendee Local Board. Colonel Clay stated that the purpose of this test Is to provide additional evidence fot the use of local boards in considering the deferment of a registrant from military service as a student. All Selective Service registrants who are presently enrolled in a college or university or who are high school graduates Intending to go to college are encouraged to make application and take the Selective Service College Qualification Test. Students engaged In graduate study are especially encouraged to take fhe test as undergraduate standards are not available for them. A student registrant who Is presently deferred, either ns a student or in any other deferred class should give serious consideration to taking the test as no deferment is permanent and the results of the test might be very important during the next school year for many registrants who presently are deferred as students or In any other deferred class. Sperry, County Treasurer, by Robert Yoder, Manager of the Fish Springs installation. The payment representes the sharing with counties of refuge revenue. In counties where the Federal Government has taken areas out of taxation rolls for benefit of the public, the annual payment represents either 25 per cent of the grazing fees, or of 1 per cent of the adjusted value of the land. Care Center is Dedicated In Saturday Rites Impressive dedicatoiy services were held Saturday in connection with the open house of the Mt. Nebo Day Care and Center. A song, Training Bless This House was given by a ladies trio consisting of LuAnn Osborne, Barbara Jones and Mardene Andreasen. The dedicatory prayer was given by Bishop Vaughn J. Paxman. Objectives of the center were read by Aria McPherson, a teacher and training aide. Irvin K. Rashband and Mrs. Rashband of the State Welfare Department department. represented that Mrs. Vaughn J. Paxman, head of the committee responsible for the training center, extended thanks to all who had helped in any way to bring the center to the community. Mrs. Paxman recognized the contribution of $100.00 by the Juab Education Association, and a contribution of $25.00 by Dr. A. A. Boston.
