Nephi, Utah Mother's Influence Among my most precious soul treasures, is the memory of mothers prayers by the bedside, of her affectionate touch as she tucked the bed clothes around my brother and me, and gave each a loving, good-nigkiss. We were too young and rougish then, fully to appreciate such devotion, but not too young to know that mother loved us. ht love, with a loyalty to the precepts of an exemplary father, which, more than once during fiery youth, turned my steps from the precipice of temptation. It was this realization of mothers I I At Wilkey Home Veterans of World War I and the Auxiliary met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilkey on Saturday, May 1. Speaker for the evening was C. R. Equipment Wanton shooting of powerline insulators by frustrated marksmen is an old story to electric utility companies, but this type of thoughtless vandalism is becoming increasingly serious. Early this week, Blanding and the extreme southeastern comer of Utah was without electricity for some three hours all because it was necessary to cut service to repair two high voltage air brake switches riddled by bullets. And in another part of the country sometime ago, a mother and daughter were burned to death In a horrible, sicken- We have arranged to have a professional at our cafe on the date shown below. ei Babies Portraits Children's Groups Grandma and Grandpa Family Groups Portraits, too. Shooting of insulators and other facilities Is not a new experience with Utah Power and Light, who, In a typical year Is plagued with hundreds of inn cidents of Just recently, a crewman patrolling a high voltage line counted 50 insulators shot and broken on two structures alone. On the ground below lay discarded ammunition boxes and shell cases. Often such damage goes until storms and wet weather cause the partially unprotected lines to flash over. The result: line outage and emergency repairs under the most unfavorable conditions. And it is a good bet that the perpetrators of such trouble would yell the loudest when their power went off! Misguided marksmen who bang away at utility pole insulators and other power line equipment are violating federal and state laws and subject themselves to heavy fines and imprisonment This law should not be necessary. Anyone old enough to use a gun should be mature enough to realize the seriousness of the menace of this vandalism to their own lives and welfare. nsul-ator- s. ed DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to get a beautiful portrait you 1;00 fo 8:00 p.m. ticipating.
