High praise has been received from Relief Society general officers and board members and from many other high church officials for the Juab Stake Singing Mothers, who last Wednesday presented two numbers at the opening session of the general conference of the Relief Society in the historic L. D. S. Tabernacle on Temple Square m Salt Lake City. Representing the six wards of Juab Stake were 165 ladies making up the chorus directed by Mrs. Will L. Hoyt. The accompaniment for the numbers in the conference was by Dr. DWIGHT ANDERSON Attending FFA National Meet The Nephi Lady Lions held their October meeting Monday evening at the Snak Shak. Club president Bertha Winn presided, and prayer was given by Nina Hanson. Special guests Nephi Fourth Ward. Mrs. Mary Jensen, Stake Relief Society president, stated words and music, by Mrs. Viv- Mrs. ian P. Hoyt of Nephi. Hoyts number has received wide acclaim, and it was particularly written for Singing Mothers of the Relief Society. The other selection was Prayer Perfest by Stenson. Dean of the chorus was Mrs. Alice P. McCune of Nephi, who recently observed her 89th birthday anniversary. Walter Paxman, chairman of the Nephi City Republican Committee stated that the Republican candidates are C. W. Glazier, incumbent; Ray Kelson and Harlow W. Pexton. Nomination petition had not been field at closing time of the City Recorder's office on Wednesday, but Mr. Paxman stated that the filing would be done early Thursday morning. In his announcement of the candidates, Mr. Paxman stated that the Republican City Com- mittee expresses their thanks and appreciation to Councilmen Eugene Lunt and E. Rulon Brough for the service they have given the City during their terms in office. Each will end eight years in office as of December 31st, Mr. Paxman said. Mayor Issues Proclamation Mayor R. E. Winn has issued a proclamation calling for special emphasis on the week of October 18 to 24 as United Nations week. Bishop Lee J. Olsen conducted the services in the Third Ward chapel, and military rites at the graveside were under direction of the Nephi Post No. 1, American Legion, assisted by members of Battery B, 145th F. A. Bn. Mr. Svedin was bom March 13, 1894 at Elsinore, a son of Paulus and Anna Augusta Anderson He married Svedin. Lydia Elizabeth Howarth of Nephi December 10, 1919, in thet LDS Manti temple. She died in 1929. In June, 1933 he married Minnie Lavell Sperry Cazier, at the Manti Temple. Mr. Svedin was an employee of Thermoid Co., Nephi Division, and later H. K. Porter Co., Thermoid Division, Nephi works until his retirement several months ago. He had been active in affairs of the local union of International Association of Machinists while employed at the Nephi plant.
