Stake Guide Patrol lead1.1 er, was held Saturday, Sept. at the First-S- i cond ward hall. The Guide patrol boys from the four waicK ot Nephi particijtated in this event. ()eniiig .solids were led by Mrs Florence Haynes, Stake Primary Oioi'Lster, accompanied by Mrs. Ora J. Morgan. Posting of the colors was by the Fourth Ward and the opening prayer group, was by Dennis Paxman of the First Ward. Following the welcome by Mrs. Paxman, Stake leader, demonstrations were given as follows: Fire building and first aid, First Ward boys; Compass, Clothing and equipment, Second ward boys; conservation, shanicning of knife and axe, Third W'ard boys; signaling, comparing articles of faith and scout laws, Fourth Ward boys. After the demonstratioas Seout-e- r Boyd lvie, Council Field Scout Fxecume took charge of the skill relays. He was assisted by Kxplor-er- s Blair Painter, James Jensen, Richard Jensen and Richard Bailey. The Second ward team won the relays with 170 points followed by the Fourth ward team with 110 points. Third place went to the First ward team with 75 points and fourth place went to the Third ward boys wuth a score of 60 points. A compass was presented to the winning team and it was accepted for the Second Ward group by Craig Tidwell, patrol leader. Hamburgers, punch and cupcakes were served to approximately 75 boys and their parents. for. The club had previously arced on a project, that of collecting items for a layette and contributing it to the Wel-fa- r Dept., and this was done at the Thursday meeting. Members present were Betty Belliston, Erma Carter, Florence Marcile Jackson, Norma Ostler, Jenkins, Florence Kendall, LaRae Alene Kendall, Joyce Memmott, Grace Ostler, Beth Ostler, Olpin, Deon Paxman, Vera Paxman Thelma Read, Mildred Sherwood Marjorie Steiner, Marba Stuart Helen Worthington, Verna Wright and Jean Linton. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Butler and daughter Verna were in Kanab Friday for the dedication of the Glens Canyon dam highway. Mr. Butler has been working on the new highway for two years. Following completion of the highway he has accepted an assignment in this vicinity.
