for the honor ot of providing tor for this ihla state a popular anthem the suggestion was some ume time ago made to I 1 the he salt lako lake tribune and that newspaper nas has agreed to take the matter la in hand and offer six prizes amounting to 1400 as a reward for the efforts ot of the competitors peti tors it Is claimed by the promoters ot of this enterprise that there Is but one state in the union that tins aa a state anthem it Is believed that within a few faw years almost every eve ry state will have an anthem and that there Is no good reason why utah should bo be the last to adopt one the conditions of oc the contest which Is now on is that thi words ot of the anthem contain not more than five stanzas nor less than three stanzas each stanza not to exceed eight lines it Is optional with the author whether or not there shall be a chorus authors author name safeguarded tho the manuscript must bo be submitted in a legible hand or typewritten and there DOTO must ho be no name bame nor address addres 5 written on the manuscript that would disclose tho the identity of the author enclosed with the manuscript must bo be a blank envelope containing the name address and place of birth of the author and this envelope must be securely scaled manuscripts should bo be mailed to anthem contest editor tribune salt lake city and on oil receipt of it a key number will be b given to the manuscript and to the envelope enclosing the name but the name will not ha be known to any one until a committee has passed on the merits of the composition POs and recommended twenty
