Lindbergh prepared tonight to turn archaeologist-and to find in the Junexplorer gle fastnesses of the Yucatan peninsula new traces of an old Indian race that thrived before the time of Christ. With a representative of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, he made ready to take off tomorrow on the first of his aerial explorations, whlcjj will take four days. His first days flight was outlined to cover . the Peten district in northern Guatemala. Win Use Maya Ruin In Jungle Aa Landmark. Leaving Belize and crossing British Honduras, he will follow the river to Lake Tayasat then go due north to Tlkal, a known Maya ruin, where buildings rise 200 feet through the thick jungles. Using this site, remnant of one of Americas oldest civilizations, as a land? ' mark, the modem pioneer of the air will continue north to Uanactum, beyond which lies an entirely unknown stretch Jof country in the northem end of Guatemala. History does not record that a white man has ever seen that ter- -i ritory, where it is expected ruins may disclose important links in the history of the ancient Maya civlliza . tion. Plans Other flights Into Unknown Regions, Before he returns to the United States, Lindbergh will take other flights. Including one into the unknown regions behind the Bay of Campeche in Mexico. The principal sites to be used there-- for bearings are lakes, the shape and characteristics of which have been described by adventurous chicle men.- Dr. Oliver Ricketson and Dr. A. V. ..Kldder of (he Carnegie Institute will accompany Lindbergh, helping him take photographs anU' record the compass bearings of any new ruins found. Also in the plane will be LindCharles Lorber; the berghs radio man, W. w. Ehmer, and a representative of the Airways. The latter write frequent bulletins' to be radioed direct from Airthe plane to the ways station at Miami. Pllsudskl is seriously ill were followed by the announcement today that he is leaving to spend a fortnight on the Adriatic coast, although he only returned from his summer vacation three weeks ago. The fact that the marshal is to be accompanied by a physician, Dr. Woycnskl, lends support to the story that the health of Poland's dictator has broken down under the strain of continuous quarreling with parliament and the belief is that he will not return, as he promises, for the opening of parliament on October 81. If Marshal Pllsudskl returns the contest promises to become sharper, for a number of parties previously supporting the marshal nave announced their Intention of joining the opposition and voting a lack of confidence In the government Immediately upon the opening of the session. Marshal Pilsifdski la expected, nevertheless, to retain his old cabinet, dissolve parliament and hold a new election.
