LOUIS, April 14 Lieu W. tenant Shapley Gray waa missing two hour after he and Captain Wil liam Wlmer Jumped with parachutes tonight from their National Quaxd plane, when the plane's motor died in midair above Gumbo, Mo., 20 miles southwest of here. Captain Wlmer injured his back slightly in landing. captain Wlmer, who was piloting the snip, and Oray are both attached to the National Ouard air unit at St. Louis. They had flown from here to Jefferson City, MoH this morning on a training ship and were returning tonight. Captain Wlmer told the Associated Press that they were traveling at a height of 800 feet when the motor died and both Jumped with parachutes. Wlmer did not see If Gray's parachute opened. Townspeople of Gumbo heard the crash and found Wlmer at once, but the plane still waa missing and resi dents, together with searching par ties irom ei. Louir were searcninf the wooded banks of the Missouri river, Just outside the town, where they believed both Oray and the plane may have eome down. The demolished plane was found later In the brush near the river, not far from the pot where Captain Wlmer landed.
