On Valentine day Grace Elizabeth Koehlrr planned a surprise party for our teacher. During the afternoon a play was arranged which was taken from our books. Jay Paul Milner was Hans Brlnker. Betty Jean Ken-yo- n was Molly, Leslie Eabye was Toby Tyler, Junior Ray was the little white rabbit from "Alice In Wonderland." Ed Baroett was Robinson Crusoe, Mary Barbara Brighton and Carl Woolaey were the children who didn't like books. After that we all took turns passing the valentines from our box and our teacher. Mrs. Viola Lange. received a fountain pen and pencil for her valentine from the class, and last of all we had ice cream and cake passed around by several of the girls who were dressed as waitresses. Then to our surprise the teacher gave us all some candy hearts. I think our room had a very happy time. JOAN CRITCHLOW Orade 4B. Pretty soon I beard a voice calling me, and It said: Ruth, come here. I cannot even budge this." I What do you suppose I saw? Her snowball had grown so large that she could not move it. I was very surprised. I helped her. At last the snowball was so large we could not move it, so we started the snow fort there. At last the fort was almost finished, and each of us had a task which would help in its completion. First. I was the doorkeeper, then I was the guardiaft 0f the door. The party was given in several adjoining rooms, each of which was decorated. The light fixtures were surrounded by large paper shades painted in yellow,Uf red and blue, giveffect. The ening a modernist trance to the room was draped In red tarltan with paper hearts attached to the material. The various sizes of the hearts formed an exquisite effect - Throughout the remaining rooms, tables and chairs were arranged, allowing the guests to enjoy such games as "What's In the Egg?" and "Who Has the Coin?" In - a large room Just off the kindergarten, refreshments were served. On the walls were tacked three enormous red hearts, on which were pasted small valentines which were given to the teachers. On the serving table were two large red candles In Crystal holders with a bowl of red and white carnations In the center. Although the affair took place one day after Valentine day, the entire party was carried out In the valentine Idea. It proved to- be a great success.
