Hymas logged a total of 104 hours on the road during the week and a half trip, which has been confirmed in Las Vegas as a new world record. Hymas was excited to see the support of family and friends and even those at the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, who he said took time off from their gambling to come out on the street and cheer him on. The final stretch, from Mesquite, Nevada to Las Vegas is one of the longest and toughest, he said, because a lot of it was uphill. During the journey Hymas was inspired by many people who either rode, walked or ran with him. He said that his brother-in-laRyan Barton, rode a stretch of 84 miles, while others also participated. During a particularly trying uphill climb, Hymas said a car pulled over to the side of the road and two paraplegics got out and starting wheeling their bikes with him. While he didnt catch their last name's, such an effort meant a lot to Hymas. Chad is a quadriplegic after suffering an accident sevTooele Transcript Bulletin eral years ago.
