The place looks more like Afghanistan every day. Shacks and shanties cover the valley like a Mexican slum. It is time for a planned community of low income housing in Monument Valley. Where have our environmentalists been? How did we let this happen? Why worry about our desert wilderness when we allow this treasure to be trashed? De Lamar Gibbons, M.D. Through Feb 13 Spy Kids II (PG) Thanks for Christmas gift Dear Editor: I want to tell you about a gift I received for Christmas. My dad dropped me off at my house after visiting with my family Christmas Eve. I went in my house and saw a present sitting there. The card read, MERRY CHRISTMAS DON FROM YOUR SECRET SANTA. It was a hand held Palm Pilot. I would just like to THANK whoever gave that to me. Im really enjoying it. I knew the signs did not comply with city ordinances for signage. I contacted the city office to see if anyone was aware of the signs. I was told the city planner had confronted the individuals and instructed them to remove the signs. The city planner discovered they had not acquired a city business license and instructed them to do so. It took them several weeks to comply. In October, 2002, I noticed business cards from this mobile windshield company posted around town at different businesses and placed on cars claiming NGA Certified. I was curious about that and contacted the NCA (National Class Association). I was informed the individuals certificates had expired in 2000. An official for the NGA wrote a letter to these individuals instructing them to cease advertising NGA Certified and gave them the opportunity to recertify. I contacted the NGA to see if these individuals had recertified and was informed by the same official, that they had not recertified. CONSUMERS BEWARE What kind of service can you expect from anyone who is willing to stoop to false advertising in an attempt to get your business? I have also noticed now make shift fliers claiming OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) Windshields. From my many years of experience as an auto glass installer, I know OEM windshields are extremely hard, if not impossible, to purchase after the vehicle leaves the assembly plants. If, in fact these are OEM windshields they will have the manufacturers name, (Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Etc...), or logo on them along with DOT information. Again, CONSUMERS BEWARE!
