Ive always worried that the end of the world will come and no one will tell And All That Jazz It was a strange Wednesday evening. After dinner, we loaded our younger child- ren into the van and went uptown to rent a video. The video store was open, but we were the only customers, a rare phenomenon. Then we drove to the grocery store to get a bag of Popsicles for a treat to go with our movie. We found the parking lot completely deserted. As we returned home, we passed the theatre and I noticed it was closed, despite movies being advertised for the evening. We didnt even meet a car on Main Street. What is goings on? I asked my husband. Maybe Blendings being evacuated and were some of the last ones to know about it. (That wouldnt be too strange - it seems were always the last to hear any- - friendship matters. On a scale of one to ten, Im not sure where our family stands as Jazz fans. Ive only seen them briefly on TV twice, and the constant instant replays confuse me. I guess our son summed it up best when the Jazz suffered their humiliating 96-5- 4 loss in game three against the Bulls, setting a record for the lowest point total in the history of the league. Well, he commiserated, If they had fun playing, thats what really counts. If the Jazz series was somewhat woeful, so was the wedding reception we attended Friday night.
