The Richfield Reaper Carbon officials favor restaurant tax We are pleased to announce that Grand Tire Co., has leased its operations in Moab and Monticello to CJ5 Enterprises, Inc., effective March 1 We, as management, officers, , siblings, and friends wish CJ5 Enterprises (John K. Black and Chip Brox) the very best in their new endeavor. Also, to set the record straight, we want to say that we did not fire Chip. He resigned from our operation after 25 years of service, and we are excited to see him return to the tire business, which he knows and loves so well. We ask both communities to support this new enterprise and join us in welcoming Chip back to Grand Price - Carbon County Travel Bureau officials are asking for a one percent tax on food served in local restaurants. On February 17, a cougar killed their dog just a few feet from their back door, bringing back memories of ten years ago, when authorities at the same spot shot a bear that tried to come through their back door at dinner time. The cougar was tracked down and shot in a box Garfield County News canyon not far from the Ott home. J. Burton Black, President Bevery B. Allen, Vice-Preside- nt Patricia B. Christensen, Sec7 Treas. wrestling season, but Im not ready to end the season just yet. A situation on the Monticello High wrestling team caught my attention early and kept me interested throughout the season. Coach John Dowell knew he had a difficult situation when he had seven varsity wrestlers with state tournament experience battling for six available spots. The writing was on the wall that come region and state tournament time, one very competitive, outstanding young man would be excluded from participating. Ive seen situations like this before. By the time the frustration calms and the dirt throwing stops, the team, parents, and sometimes even the community have taken sides in the issue. Things ended very differently in this situation. In fact, I was left with great admiration for one young man on the Buckaroo wrestling team and his parents. The young man, who wasnt able to wrestle at region or state his Senior year, remained positive and supportive of his teammates. Im sure the pain and frustration was no less for him than for the many other men who have gone through similar situations with less honor. Im sure he will always wish the difficult situation had never presented itself, but I believe that facing dif- ficult situations courage and staying with posi- tive, even in difficult times, builds character and integrity. Integrity and character will help this young man in the future more than the memory of participating in a state wrestling tournament. He took a negative, difficult situation and turned it into a positive, character building situat- ion.
