Monticello High School students earning superior ratings are Nathan Palmer on baritone, Kassie Harris on clarinet, John Wells on clarinet, Todd Randall on alto sax, Kirk Ilazelton on tenor sax, and Joan Rice and Kassie Harris with a clarinet duet. San Juan High School students earning superior ratings are Russell with an Excellent Plus rating and 94 points. San Juan placed second with an Excellent Plus rating and 90 points. Monticello captured third place with an Excellent Minus rating and 60 points. Robert Bowring, San Juan Band Director, is proud of the performance of the San Juan Band. Ninety musicians from San Juan High School traveled to Utah Valley State College to perform in the State Band Festival on May 3. Thirty-twbands from across the state earned the right to perform at the festival by receiving Superior ratings at their Region o Festivals. The festival included five San Juan, 2A bands: Mon- ticello, Manti, Morgan, and Beaver. Morgan High School won the 2A division 18. The Monticello High participated in state competition.
