Arts Center opens show The Durango Arts Center has an exhibit of work by pastel and print artist Amy Grogan, sculptor Gunnar Anderson, and watercolor and pastel painter Marilyn Mathews of Farmington. The show will be on display through November 8. The Durango Arts Center is located upstairs in the Main Mall at 835 Main, Durango. Gallery hours are 10 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Excerpts from The Color of Rock, The Numbers of Things, a book written by Will Camp with photographs by Rachel Pfotenhauer, will be on exhibit at the Cortez CU Center through November a.m.-- 5 30. The Color of Rock, The Numbers of intertwines the experiences of Things writerteacher Will Camps life teaching special education on the Navajo Reservation and a fictional account of a medicine man, Hosteen Klah. The photographs in the book lend themselves to the images the writer depicts of the environment and some of the people at Toadlena Reservation. The Cortez Center is at 25 North Market Street in Cortez. Waid Griffin, southwestern landscape artist at the San Juan College Henderson Fine a.m.-- 1 Arts Center Art Gallery. Griffin recently received first place in painting, best of show, and the peoples choice awards from his exhibits at the New Mexico State Fair. He has also exhibited his work in several galleries and festivals. The exhibit will run through December 1. Scottish Reverie, an exhibition of paintings, watercolors, and acrylics by Sandra Elam Nelson of Farmington, will be on display at the San Juan College Library through November 22. Library A special exhibit of images of the Southwestern landscape by photographers George Anderson and James Strong will be on display at Edge of the Cedars State Park, Blanding (Utah) through the end of the year. George Anderson uses only Ilfochrome Classic material in the handprinting of his own photographs because of its archival quality and the dramatic results of color and contrast produced. November 30 in the Cortez CU Center. Mick Reber is the juror for this fourth annual show. Reber is an art professor at Fort Lewis College who also has a private studio in Durango.
