Bill and Karen Wilson spent the school break in Valle back with us again, and of course Joyce and In- Lyons, Indiana, visiting, their children and Bill's grid. father who is ill. J.W. and Jaime Crowley are back in Eastland after spending the winter in Mesa. I saw some of our returned snow birds at the senior dinner: JJ and Shirley Steffen, the Corbins, Fern Richey, the Leon Adams' and the Grant Leavitts. I guess you might say I celebrated my 96th birthday for two days: starting on Tuesday, April 12, with a 6 p.m. catfish dinner at the Lamplight Restaurant with Jim and Bernice Barry as hosts. The guests included The Seniors enjoyed a lovely catered meal prepared by some of the Honor Society students at Monti-cell- o High School, along with their director Mr. Reeves. There were 41 Seniors there and all the chairs were full. Relia Paskett is back with us after spending the winter with a daughter and family in Kingman, Arizona, and with another daughter in Sandy, Utah. Bob and Elaine Barry spent the weekend in Phoenix visiting friends Rights "rite" set for Monticello Governor Mike Leavitt has designated the week of April 25 to May 1 as Crime Victims Rights Week in Utah. A candle lighting ceremony is scheduled in where information to help victims of violent crimes is available from the police department. In conjunction with Victims Right's Week there will be statewide candle lighting ceremony on April 27 at 8:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the state capitol and at all San Juan county seats. who wish residents County to recognize victims of crime are invited to meet at the courthouse (117 South Main) in Monticello on Mon-ticell- o, April 27 at 8:30 p.m. for a short ceremony. Progress is being made to recognize and protect the rights and needs of crime victims. San Juan County is included in the Seventh Ju- dicial District Victims Rights Committee, with Monticello Police Chief Kent Adair as a member of the committee. Chief Adair says that if you are a victim of a violent crime, or the family or dependent of a deceased victim, you may be eligible for funds to help with counsel- ing, medical, and funeral expenses. You also may be eligible for compensation for lost wages. The Victims Right's committee also is designated to assist any crime victims who believe that the criminal justice system has not met their needs. Chief Adair invites anyone who has a problem in this regard, or for reparations fund information, to contact him at his office in the Public Safety Building, 29 South Main in Monticello, or call financed by a portion of the fines assessed for violations of the law. Wednesday was the ladies luncheon at the Community Church with another cake and presents; then the banquet at the Senior Center on Wednesday evening. Cooper and Jeanne Jones and their son Len and his wife Mary Ann from Washington, Utah, recently returned from a cruise to the Bahamas. They flew from Salt Lake to Orlando, and Maxine Himmelberger traveled to guests of the Doyle Rowleys. On Thursday, April 14, Teresa received word of the birth of a son to Tonia and Dave in Salt Lake City. Grandma left for Salt Lake City to help care for the newcomer for a few days.
