Without a Head Coach or Assistant it iooked like quits for the boys involved. Albert R. Lyman Middle School teacher Jim Shum-wa- y and Brian Tate saw this need and filled it. On Jan. 26, on San Juans turf SJH held a which ended with San Juan in first, with 45 points. Kayenta took second with 17. Moab, Dove Creek, Kayenta, and SJH meet on the mats. San Juan wrestled Dove Creek first. In the 119 division Davis Hickman won his match by 2 points; 125 , Jeremy Manheimer came out with a pin in the first round; 130, J.J. Squires also won with a pin; 145, Josh Tate pinned his man in the second period, and Jason Shumway topped it off by dequad-mee- t, Dustin Reed weighing in at 160 won by points; Jason his pinned Shumway opponent to the mat, while Fitzgerald Dee did the same. The heavyweight was won by points thanks to Monte Tate. After the Monticello match Dec. 9, San Juan barely pulled through, they headed to Joseph City and tournainto an eight-teament where they placed m third. At this tournament Jason Shumway was named Outstanding Heavyweight Wrestler. San Juans team was ready to flex their muscles, Coach Shumway said, at the Navajo Nations Tournament Jan. 15 in Shiprock where 17 schools from four different states converged. As it turned out, the Beavers shot the lights out and handed the Bucks their third defeat of the season. Broncos split on road-tri- p On Jan. 14th, in Kanab, the San Juan High School boys basketball team was 6 defeated by the Kanab Sevier come back within eight points at the half.
