Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Thursday November 25, 1993 - Page 2 Giving Thanks for our blessings Today is Thanksgiving, a day to give thanks for our nation, our local beauty, our families and our own individual blessings. Homeless, hungery, disadvantaged, handicapped or handicapable ... everyone has blessings, it just may take a bit more meditation to find some. Even children undergoing sexual abuse at the hands of their parents or guardians have the blessing of times of 'peace' between incidents. Spouses who are beaten and abused are not always at that point of the cycle of violence ... there is always the 'Honeymoon' Phase. AND all of the above i happening right here in San Juan County. Those who are not aware of it shot Id count their blessings that they are not involved or know of these things. We all have many blessings, especially living in the natural wonders and beauty of San Juan County. Today we need to all take a few minutes of meditation to count them and thank God for Letters To The Editor them. San Juan County IS prejudiced old The 19 ... lawsuit year opening old wounds and bringing up OLD issues provides the grist for this editorial. Anyone living in San Juan County for more than a few weeks can document the bigotry and prejudice here ... on both sides of the San Juan River! Has anyone cried foul when Navajos show their bias against Hopi's, Utes, Hispanics or Angols? Or when Hispanics discrimate against Native Americans, Anglos or Orientals? Blacks discriminate among themselves between etc. "bloods", mixed-bloodAnglos and many minorities discriminate beyond more than skin color, religious persuasion, ethnic origin and appearance; there is economic snobbery, people treat others different if they live on 'Snob Hill' (wherever there is one in or around the town you live in) or 'across the tracks.' USA is prejudiced! Utah, Colorado, Arizona s, and New Mexico are all bigoted! San Juan County is only trying to keep up. Granted, we all need to worry about this but we don't need costly lawsuits especially funded by outside agitators!! - Treasure Hunt coming to a close With the clue this the final is for week, prize up grabs in the 1993 Diamond Jubilee Treasure Hunt. It has been a good year with several winners and many participants in the hunt ... we appreciate each and everyone of you who have taken the time to search, whether you have found a prize or not. Thank you for all your effort and good luck in the home stretch of the treasure hunt. The San Juan Record welcomes letters from its readers on any subject of public interest.
