Show THE SANJUAN RECORD Wedhesday November 23,1988v ! Bluff Stuff Dorothy Nielson by There is always something to make life interesting, if not very enjoyable. Im not all that fond of oil When lamps and candles. something like this happens, I think of an old nursery rhyme I Power outages. used to know: There was a man in our town And he was wondrous wise. He ran into a bramble bush And scratched out both his eyes. And when he found his eyes were out With all his might and main. He ran into another bush And scratched them in again. Now wouldnt it be wonderful if when a gust of wind, for instance, knocks out our power, another gust would just knock it in again! I heard over the radio of the power outages in Monti-cell- o and Blanding, because of gusty winds. I never did find out why they went out in Bluff the night before. We had gusty winds, too, so I suppose that could have been the culprit. . The wind was the cause of an accident between Bluff and Montezuma Creek. An airplane that was being piloted along the highway on a trailer, blew off onto the highway. Four boys, Jonah Nakai, Lorenzo Buck, Miles Johnson and Adrian Black, on their way home from Whitehorse High, had to swerve to miss hitting the plane, lost control of their pickup, and rolled. The boys, luckily, were unhurt but the pickup, belonging to Jonah Nakai, was totaled. Page'll We had visitors in town to help us enjoy all this wind and the power outages. The parents of Kevin Guymon from Ogden, visited them for a week. They have now returned to Ogden. Norma Franch, a sister of Clemma Johnson, has been a guest at the Clarence Johnson home for the past two weeks. Norma is recovering from foot surgery. Opel Hooper, a long-tim- e resident of Bluff and owner of the D. & A. Trading Post, has sold her business and is moving to Texas. She will be living close to her daughter in Texas. Much as I hate to face the awful fact, our beautiful fall days are about over. Maybe next January, when the cold winds are blowing and we shun the outside air, we can think back on this beautiful fall and sing Thanks for the Memories.
