Ray had taught many of the graduating stuj Dan and Gloria Barfiiss entertained last Saturday with a barbecue on the patio to celebrate Dans birthday. About 40 friends and guests, plus family, enjoyed a bounteous meal, games and visiting. Chris came home from college in Idaho for the occasion but David, who lives in Salt Lake, was unable to come. Maggie Harveys sons and their wives were here over the weekend: Clyde and Maralyn from Salt Lake city, and Clark and Betty from Richfield, Washington. While here, Clyde and Clark rode their cycles to motor- and Hole-In-The-Ro- ck many other places. Maggie and the ladies visited other points of interest in and around dents when they were in grade school and they were pleased to invite him to speak. Ray was accompanied to the exercises by his wife, Cathy, their baby daughter, and Ambrose and Sheri Mexican. We had a wee rain on Sunday evening which netted .17 of an inch of moisture, but it sure perked up the lawns for a day or two. The intense wind over the weekend split a large shade tree south of the Gordon Adams property, and the branches of many trees throughout town were broken. Many people report that they fear a crop failure this year for the fruit trees, due to the late frost. It was good to have our daughter Lillian, and her husband, Jim Barnett, and children from West Jordan here over the weekend. Marjorie Scott of Salt Lake was a weekend visitor at the Ray and Cathy Johnson home. She is Cathys mother and came to get acquainted with her new granddaughter, Lauren Blanding. Clyde and Maralyn left on Tuesday. Clark and Betty stayed a few days longer. A large crowd turned out at the Blanding Cemetery on Memorial Day to place flowers on the graves of loved ones. They went together to At London they England. parted company and while Thelma toured England, Pat went to Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands. Pats main purpose in her trip was to attend the Doll House Festival in London, as she is a specialist on all sorts of dolls. She has friends all along the way who accompanied her to many places. She saw places where her ancestors lived, took a conducted tour of the Netherlands, and visited many famous churches. Thelma visited cousins and friends, some she hadnt seen for many years. She saw the old country where her father was bom and lived as a child. She visited Wally and Nancy Galbraith. She got to meet a cousin whom she had never seen, which she says was thrilling for her. She visited numerous famous places in England. Both Pat and Thelma remarked on the beauty of that part of the world. It is lush and green. They said the people are friendly and willing to assist in any ay if needed. Thelma made it home with only minutes to spare before the graduation exercises at San Juan High where her granddaughter, Sharlynn Redd, graduated. Pat came home two days later. There are Blanding businessmen interested in paying a group or individual to build floats for the Fourth of July parade in Blanding. This could be a fund raiser for youth or other service groups.
