To pursue this end, the Housing Services Division is requesting a grant from the FmHA available through their Housing Preservation Grant Program to provide housing rehabilitation in the community of Halchita, Utah. Numerous studies have documented the fact that the housing needs are greater than the pace of new construction and rehabilitations. The priority list submitted by each chapter that UNDC serves has always concurred with the need for an addition in the housing funds. The objective of this project is to upgrade the e families by living conditions of 25 bedroom and constructing living room additions. Navajo families are living in these small units that were originally built for one person and expansion is vitally needed. This program is scheduled for a completion date of two years.
