Show 0' THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday June 10, 1987 Bluff Stuff by Dorothy Nielson Perry Berensen, who has been a visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Berensen, has returned to Provo. Ruth and Art McKelvey have two from granddaughters Montrose, Colorado visiting them. The girls are also enjoying visiting with their cousins, daughters of Lucy and Ed McKelvey. With the tourist season going full blast, Ruth and Art are probably happy to have some help. Shirley Gaines went to the - Page 8 Special Olympics at Provo. She returned home with a couple of bronze medals and a fifth place award. That is the good news. She also had a bicycle accident after she returned home where she broke a finger and is wearing a cast. The senior citizens went up to Blanding on Thursday for a picnic. It was much cooler there than in Bluff, where it is getting a house full of company. Craigs parents, Marva and Gary Empey, older sister Peggy Hansen and her son Nathan, his younger brother Mark and adopted brother Sam and younger sister Lisa. Also an exchange student from Japan. Later Karries mother, Mrs. Karan Bassett, arrived to join the crowd. The two sons of Nathaniel Simpson were in town for a short visit. Nathanial built the house in which Clarence and Clemma Johnson are living. They enjoyed looking over the old place and doing a bit of remembering of what life was like way back then. I have been doing a little of that myself after reading Doris Valles Looking Back Around the Hat and San Juan County, Utah by Allan Kent Powell. So many of the names are familiar as people I knew when I first came to Bluff Emery Good-ridg- hot! Clemma and Clarence Johnson went to Blanding to attend the graduation exercises of daughter Pam Howell from CEU. The Craig Empeys have had Utah hatcheries pour out trout Utah Division of Wildlife Resources trout hatcheries are beginning to pour out annual and quotas of catchable-sizefingerling trout, much to the delight of the states almost anglers. About d half-a-millio- n 1,250,000 rain- catchable-size- d trout, eight to twelve inches, will be stocked in Utah waters in the next few months. milAnother lion fingerling trout, two to bow five-and-a-ha- lf seven inches, will be stocked to provide angling recreation in future years. In July, almost one-and-a-ha- million lf throat and brook trout cut- e, Mrs. Raplee, Del Reed, and the Nevills. My husband worked for the V.C.A. and we lived in Mexican Hat for awhile, close to Doris and Norman Nevills. One day, my two younger boys came in to tell me my little daughter had fallen in the weeds. To my horror, the finger-ling- s will be dropped from aircraft into remote alpine lakes of the Unita and Boulder mountains. A mild winter and warm weather in March allowed for early stocking of some jogging suit and a sweater to wear on my early morning walks, I now go without a sweater, have given up the heavy suit and am wondering what else I can give up without being in danger of indecent exposure. Weather report: weeds were at the bottom of a cliff, and she was laying there in shock. I called on Doris for help. Doris took over the kids, while Norman flew us out so Carol could be hospitalized in Monticello. I shall always remember them with affection and gratitude. They say you cant fool old Mother Nature, but she seems determined to try to fool us, as is evidenced by the spread in the temperature range. A week ago, I had two blankets and a spread on my bed. Ive discarded the blankets.
