Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday June 13, 1984 - Page 20 The first year at MVHS by Bill Long On May 23, Monument Valley High School held its first grad- uation exercise. Thirty-nin- e seniors hold all of the rights and of being the first privileges class to assume such honors. The graduating seniors include: Ben Atene, Leonard Atene, Rose Atene, Manuel Begay, Myron BenaUy, Stephanie Bergen, Lee Black, Lula Bums, Mary Lena Chee, Harrison Clitso, Helen Cly, Marjorie Cly, Mary Helen Cly, Donald Fait, Charlene Holiday, Rena Rock, Ricky Holiday, Tim son Shorty, Harrison Singer, Robert Singer, Gerald Stanley, Doris' SuUivan, Kee Sullivan, Arthur Todacheenie, Juanita Tallis, Hubert Todacheenie, Anslem Yazzie, LuciUe Yazzie, Sussie Yazzie, Emily Yellowhair, Ancita Atene, Virginia Holiday, Cindy Pelt and Jeanna Yazzie. The valedictorian address was given by Kee Sullivan, who also from received scholardiips of and Eastern UNDC CoUege Utah. The salutatorion address PRINCIPAL BILL LONG in the areas of drama and music. The drama team represented the school with excellence in the state competition and the music department presented several performances to schools within this area. The Monument Valley High are just community as optimistic and enthusiastic as they were when the facility was dedicated last August. The staff students, staff, and community members adjusted to the new setting early in the year and an atmosphere of seriousness soon - Programs -- were carefully analyzed and developed within all areas of the curriculum. The athletic program was initiated with care to insure that students in received quality coaching skills and sportsmanship It was astonishing to see that so much talent couldbe developed some 75 members strong. Now that this school year is it is time to take a look history, . nicture. What have ,p wg accomplished, and just what can we do to establish continual improvement?
