Show - Page THE SAN JUAN RECORD Thursday, July 22, 1982 9 Liccnoc cheaper than finco conservation Every year officers encounter a large number of violations involving licenses. These violations include hunting or fishing without a license, failure to have license on person and unlawful purchase of a hunting or fishing license. Hunting or fishing without a license is the number one violation each year. Before hunting or fishing, all persons over the age of 12 years old are required to obtain the proper license or permit. It is unlawful to either borrow or lend a license and both persons can be prosecuted. Fines for hunting or a license are quite without fishing stiff. It is cheaper by far to purchase the proper license before hunting or fishing. In addition, all persons are required to have the necessary licenses and permits on their person while engaged in hunting or fishing. Failure to have a license on person creates a problem for the conservation officer, the courts and the sportsmen. This problem could be reduced if. people could remember to take their licenses. The law now requires that a person reside in the State of Utah six months before he can pur- chase a resident license. License agents require proof of residency before sellinga license to anyone. Before purchasing a hunting or a combination license, a person under the age of twenty-on- e years old is required to complete a hunter safety class. Upon successful completion of a hunter safety class, a certificate of competency is issued and this certificate must be shown when purchasing a hunting license. In order to have an enjoyable hunting or fishing experience this year, remember to obtain the proper license and to have them on your person while afield. Make sure you meet all requirements for the license before you purchase it. The following is a list of licenses and their cost. c 5, Resident Fishing, $4.50 $10.50 Season, $2.00 10 day; 4, Season, $5.00 10 day; 65 -- over, 10 day. $5.00 Season, $2.50 Resident Big Game, $10.00.
