After an emotional game against East Carbon last Saturday, the Bucks finished third in Region xm qualifying games. Duchesne came in first in the Round Robin held in Monticello. Altamont, predicted to win, came in second. The road to state began for the Bucks last Thursday when they met .the Tabiona Tigers. With Tabiona ranked fifth in region and Monticello ranked fourth, it was predicted to be a game (as the final score shows) one-sid- ed but the was a close contest. on the Monticello Everyone team wanted to score and some surprises showed up. Ivan Aloysious came out of nowhere to score 12 quick points. Senior Mike Utley pumped in two while Jon Smith wiped the board clean with 11 rebounds and four points. A fantastic display of hustle came from Rhett Maughan who had a number of steals on the full court press. It took the Bucks a while to get going but they put the Tigers in with a final score of cages ters 83-5- 2. On Altamont met a Buckaroo shootout and came out the winner. Rhett Maughan leading a full court press went crazy in the first half and laid up three easy ones off stolen balls while Mark Paul went to work under the basket.
