We have recently learned of the passing of Anne Harvey, former Blanding resident, wife of the late Aaron Harvey and sister to LaRay Alexander. Anne had been in poor health for some time and was living with her sister, Leona Bailey in California. Crocus of every hue are seen in flower gardens around town and I have seen several robins. Lawns are greening and have had balmy days and warm sun. We welcome Larry and Carol Richmond and four children, new residents from Salt Blanding Lake. Carol is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson. guests at the Grover-Hu- nt wedding reception were Margaret and Mark Wright and son of Albuqueruqe. A group of Blanding senior citizens enjoyed a bus tour of the De Canyon Chelly area on Out-of-to- wn Monday. A Klondike Derby is scheduled Friday and Saturday on the Blue Mountain by the District Boys Scouts of America. The affair will begin with a campout Friday evening. Saturday morning Derby entrants will line up in sleighs made of a box mounted on runners. Each sleigh, hand made by scouts and fathers, will include a driver. Power to pull the sleigh is furnished by a team of scouts. In addition to the race, there will be other games and competition. Secret grandmas learned the identity of their granddaughters last Saturday night when the MIA girls of the 2nd Ward invited them to a dinner at the stake center. Recent LDS church news includes a special fireside meeting held at the stake center; a special meeting of the Merrie Miss Girls and Blazer Boys with their parents; announcement of the 4th Ward scout banquet on February 24 and the farewell testimonial of Wendell Shumway, son of Mr. and Bruce Shumway. FBLA SIRLOIN TIP STEAK installed at San Juan by Phil Lyman M. Lloyd, Utah state of Business from the Specialist Office of Education, installed the officers and chartered the San Gary Juan Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of American in an impressive candlelight ceremony. Installed were Brenda Black, president; Sracy Kiupers, vice president; Kehualani Fisher, seJon McRedmond, cretary; treasurer and Tony McRedmond, historian. Special guest speakers were Jim Harris and Dr. T.R. Turk. There were four student speakers who presented the FBLA four areas of focus. Janette Slade spoke on the future, Rosalinda Oshley spoke on business, Phil Lyman spoke on leadership and Katherine Bayles spoke on America. The FBLA has been active this Council to be held Business March 9. They have made spirit signs for school organizations different and made Valentine lollipops as a fund raising project. They plan to attend the state FBLA convention and to send two members to Utah Business Week. Stacy Kuipers has been named the Utah State FBLA vice president. She will attend meetings in Salt Lake monthly and be in of promoting FBLA charge organizations in the southeastern region of Utah. year.
